We took a well-marked trail that wandered in and out of the many "fingers" of the lakeshore. It was about 4.5 miles long and generally flat. There are a few hills but I would characterize the walk as easy for anyone in moderate shape. Many dogs were enjoying the area as well, but park rules require they be leashed at all times. The trail was quite wet and muddy in spots, probably because of some hard rain in the past few days. Most areas prone to being wet have installed bridges, at least one of which has a sign that it was a Boy Scout Eagle Project. Of course it was very well done! The trail needs some attention as the winter has left its toll with downed trees and branches, but none were in the way of the trails. There are many roots so watch your step! Most had the remnants of orange spray paint to make them visible, but they wee pretty worn. Hopefully the park staff will clean up the trails and re-paint the most problematic roots. Parking is close to the trailhead and it was a great day for a hike in a nice wooded area by a serene lake!

Took 45 sixth graders to the park last year. It was freezing outside, but they had an absolute ball playing on the playground and playing soccer in the field. I'd like to go back and walk the trail, because the lake is stunning.

Many times we enjoy taking our boat to nearby lakes for a spin & turning the lakes into a swimming pool to cool off. Today was a perfect day at Harris County park. We enjoyed seeing 4 Eagles, so many Herons we lost count. Osprey diving for dinner and catching a fish in it's feet. We were blessed to view the Osprey's dinner with a fly over. A great day for viewing wildlife. Swimming was a bonus. Harris Lake is 4100 acre lake. The nearby park has biking trails, disc course, walking trails and pavilions for picnics. 15 miles West of Holly Springs, it's definitely worth the drive.

The main peninsula trail was about 5 miles, very well maintained, and an easy day hike. If you don't mind the giant cooling tower that is in sight for about 50% of the trail, it is a good way to get out into nature for a little while.
