Went for the sheep dog trials, beautiful spot , had great weather so that helped. Lots of dogs highland cattle, food and education in a bucolic setting. Check their website before going to see what's happening, it's a great place for festivals and they have a number during the year. I'd like to come back for the scots festival.

The setting of Rural Hill is beautiful. The buildings are well preserved but there isn't anything anywhere that told or described the history of the place. We arrived on a day that a private party was going on. We tried to find a docent or someone that could tell us something about Rural Hill but didn't see anyone; apparently they were down at the maze. There is a lot to see here - a house, a school, several barns, an outdoor cooker of some sort and a smoke house. We didn't see a pumpkin patch but a young couple came carting one out in a wagon, so there must be a pumpkin patch somewhere on the place.

Enjoyed the maize maze and sheep dog trials. It was truly a unique experience! The kids LOVED the pumpkin chunkin' also! So much fun to be had! We are looking forward to coming again in 2014 and bringing more friends!

How do I begin? This event was all about the money! Twenty dollars entrance fee plus an extra charge for using credit/debit cards. Apparently, air does not come cheap! Twelve dollars per child more to let them jump in the bounce house and to participate in small games. Pricey food of very poor quality with an extra long wait time. Over priced drinks. People must pay for a seat in the shade or sit in the strong sun away from the main game field. Port-a-johns were available to visitors who needed to take the long walk in order to get there. I was surprised they didn't charge for this necessity. There were many vendors and good music but this event is more about making a buck than it was about celebrating one's cultural heritage. The Scottish games at Grandfather mountain was much better in my opinion. I would not consider going back to this event next year without bringing my own cooler packed with water and snacks. In closing, don't forget to bring the lawn chairs!

It's a scavenger hunt that's a a lot of fun and good exercise...better exercise if you are bad a scavenger hunts. Everyone starts with an empty map and are sent out into the corn to find a dozen mailboxes that hold pieces of the map. All while carrying a tall flag to wave if you get into trouble. The orientation gives you everything you need to know to find your way out. There are volunteers stationed throughtout the maze in case you need to find the port-a-potty, water or the exit. To read about out whole experience check out JourneysByJill.com in the post Playing Tourist in Charlotte Day 3.

We visited the Rural Hill Farm for the Corn Maize last weekend. It took about 90 minutes and was a complex maize, even for 5 adults. Without a few clues from the staff we would have been there much longer. Go at night for an even better time.

Visited the Rural Hill Farm with a corporate outing recently, and they have earned my interest in returning throughout the year, as they offer more events. The Maize maze was challanging, and fun; however hot and long, so water, sun screen and a hat are a must if you go before October. There are tents and water stations throughout the maze. Great setup, and perfect for team building events. There are several other activities to participate in, like a kids maze. The maize maze took my group 2 hours and 10 minutes to complete, all 12 sections were found.

Fun event every year. Family and groups make it more so. Great people run the place. Definite good time.

I come here for the many festivals they hold year around, and I must say that they never let me down! Always well thought out productions, fun for all ages! I especially like the Highland games they hold. It has a very authentic feel. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect score is because I feel some things may be a bit pricy for some families. Definatly worth seeing, but bring you wallet because some events can get steep in price. But in my opinion definatly worth spending your clams on.

We went up to Rural Hill Farm for the sheepdog trials and dog festival. There were dogs everywhere. Tons of border collies were there either to participate in the herding trials or just to show support for the breed. Carolina dockdogs were there showing their amazing abilities, also. There were dogs doing agility runs. Then there were just the dogs attending. All kinds of dogs, large and small, all breeds were walking their masters and enjoying the festivities. We had a very enjoyable experience.

This Corn Maze is billed as being really cool and huge, it's a definite disappointment. The corn is not even high enough to hide the maze, so you can almost see through everything to the otherside of where you're trying to go. Also, the way the maze is set up is kind of ridiculous. They ask you to find these mailboxes throughout the maze so that you can take little stickers at each mailbox and add them to a map so once you have them all, it forms a large map of the whole maze. If you were to go through and find all of these it would probably take you 4 hours. Also, they blare music throughout the whole maze at all times. I wouldnt recommend this place.

Challenging maze for all ages. Especially challenging at night. I recommend going with a group during the day and being prepared for at least 90 mins of trying to gather clues and make it out. They do a great job of keeping a rustic and country feel and offer refreshments and campfires for before and after your maze adventure. The offer good instructions and plenty of guidance if needed to navigate the maze. We will be back this year!

I have been here for easter egg hunts, the warrior dash, and the amazing maize maze. They do a great job setting up events and it's a great venue.

The corn maze is one of the biggest and most difficult around. We had a lot of fun with the family trying to get all of the cues and completing the puzzle to get us out of the maze.

We went to the Highland Games at Rual Hill this April, again. Always draws a good crowd. You can still see some of the farm buildings while you are attending the games. Activities for the Kids and Food Vendors. You can also buy Irn Brew and Haggis! Good Fun.
