nice course layout would love to play it when fairways are green. They do not overseed. Very wet after rain. Good price friendly staff.

I loved every second of my experience at Diamond Back! The staff is super nice and the course has challenging but fair layout. Best greens I have seen for this time of year. Very scenic and peaceful. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed my round here. The course was challenging, greens were good, and the setting is very peaceful. If you're looking for a good deal and good golf this is the place for you. We paid $25 inc. tax each for the round with cart, two small draft beers and a hot dog. We played during the month of October in the morning on a Saturday. I think the fee is even cheaper mid week. The guy who greets you when you arrive at the bag drop and acts as the starter was very friendly and helpful. Beer is cheap to buy in the club house with some brands selling for $1.50! There is a practice range on site to warm up before the round. The course is about a 20 minute drive away from the North Myrtle beach area, but well worth the time as it's is carved out of the wilderness with lots of wildlife in the area, and nicely designed holes. There is real estate being developed next to a few holes, but at this point there's very few houses built. But even when it's complete, most of the holes will be still very secluded. The course is a bit tight on some holes as there's plenty of wooded arears. The rear tees are a great challenge requiring long tee shots with accuracy. There's also a number of forced carry shots that adds to the difficulty. That being said our foursome had a beginners and a senior lady who teed up from the forward tees who had a good time as the course played much easier. Great course for all!I've played many courses in the Myrtle Beach area from 5 star facilities down to the worst, and while this place doesn't have a fancy clubhouse with all sorts of staff waiting on you, I would recommend it to those looking for a great deal for a decent round of golf. In terms of value for the dollar, this place is five star all the way.

Wasn't impressed with the course. Signed up through our time share. Was disappointed with the conditions. Fairways were full of water and greens were not in the best shape. The layout is ok but there are better courses in the area. Club house folks were friendly.

Played in December for $18.00 Course was in good shape, greens were dormant but rolled true and fairly fast. Course is tighter than most with multiple forced carries. A better than average test of golf

Played Diamondback, also known as Woodland Valley CC, in the first round of the 2013 Golf.com World Amateur. As usual, the staff is very friendly. I noticed they had more staff working than the did the last time I played a year ago. Maybe it was because of the tournament but still all were friendly. Their cart girl was friendly but had no clue about how to operate a beverage cart on a golf course during a tournament. She cost me a penalty stroke. The golf course itself was in very good condition. The rough was tough. The greens were hard but great coverage and rolled true. Not an easy course.

Recently our foursome reserved a t-time at Diamond Head in Loris, SC for a morning round.First the positives; The rate was $25.00 which was outstanding, plus we got range balls, a hot dog and beverage after our round. The greens were in excellent shape and though it had rained the fairways were in decent shape. The negatives; There was only one older gentleman at the bag drop and he was a bit overwhelmed with all of the golfers arriving and preparing to load up. We later found out that this gentleman was also the ranger and water maintenance man which made his duties almost impossible to fulfill. Due to this shortage of personnel there was no water available for all 18 holes which made the hot, humid round very unpleasant from the hydration perspective. When we mentioned this to the club house lady at the turn, she was confused that this was happening and told the pro on the premises. We still had no water for the back nine even after mentioning it.The ranger was seen only once in the front nine and he really did not move along the golfers, but rather just drove through. One of our golfers is a diabetic and was hoping to see the cart lady for drinks and power bars. There was no cart lady present as well. There was only one bathroom for the entire 18 holes and the facilities where only average.Over all we enjoyed the course and greens, but the negatives were a sore spot that left our foursome with a sour taste for the course. We will probably not return any time soon. There are so many fine courses in this area, it is a shame that this course cannot hire more people and stay competitive because the layout was fun to play.

If you want a great test of golf while meandering though tree lined fairways devoid of houses or condos, Diamond Back at Woodland Valley is the facility to play. This course and property is well worth a little longer drive away from the heart of Myrtle Beach.

I played this course Monday, August 8th with my son and his friend. I picked the course because of the price ($26/pp including cart, breakfast and lunch). It was very very hot, and frankly I didn't expect the course to be in tip-top shape. I've played summer golf in Myrtle Beach before, and the greens have never been very good.I was very surprised and impressed. Tee to green, the course was in great shape and well maintained..i.e. tees were great, fairways were nice, and bunkers were consistent and also maintained. The greens were great! Good speed and smooth. We played off the tips and the course was more than challenging. A little tight on the front nine, but it opens up on the back and overall is very fair. The lunch consisted of a good hamburger, potato salad, chips and drink. Very satisfying.Overall, the experience was great and would have been good value at double the price. For $26 (summer rate), it was an absolute steal. I highly recommend going a little out of the way to play this course.

My friend and I, both on vacation with our families in Myrtle Beach, decided to try and sneak away for a round of golf. Being that it was the first day of the peak season for the golf courses, I was having trouble finding an afternoon round under $65. Then I remembered that I had a nine-hole rain check from Diamond Back Golf Course. They've recently changed management as well as names (now called Woodland Valley Country Club). This rain check was more than five years old (not even sure how it was still in my wallet), yet they were willing to accept it without a moment's hesitation. The rate for my friend was $39, nearly half of the price I was quoted at Waterway Hills.I brought my 8-year-old son with me, as he is a pretty good golfer for his age. However, as we were preparing to leave, my friend's 4-year-old son threw a tantrum that he was being left behind. So I called the course to see if it would be alright if he could sit in my friend's cart while we play. The man at the course, Willie, didn't hesitate a second before telling us to bring him along and that it won't be a problem at all.Once we got on the road it turned out that my GPS couldn't find the address, which caused me to have to call the course several times for directions, and Willie cheerily guided me to him, including once when I took a wrong turn and I had to describe to him what was around me.When we got to the course I also needed a driver, as I left all of my woods at home, figuring I'd only have time to slip away to Cane Patch Par 3 with my son. Willie rounded me up a driver, and didn't bat an eye when we told him that we were only playing nine holes since we brought the 4-year-old.The course was in great shape. It is a significantly better course than some of the ones closer to the beach, especially Waterway Hills, despite their much higher price to use two of their very pedestrian three nines.I had a great time with my son that I will remember for years to come, as did my friend with his son, all for $23.Myrtle Beach golf in general is full of over-inflated prices and under-maintained courses, where the bait-and-switch is general practice, jamming courses with eight-minute tee time separations, and rude, condescending clubhouse personnel is the norm.I am very pleased to have found a course where I feel confident that they appreciate my business and price their rounds in relation to the quality of their course. I will surely visit this course next time I'm in the Myrtle Beach area. And I'd like to personally thank Willie and Bill for how accommodating they were to my group. They made us feel welcome when we expected to stick out like a sore thumb.
