Rivers Bride is off the beaten path. It is a historical and beautiful place. John gives great tours and he really loves what he does!

Rivers Bridge is a near pristine War Between the States site that tells the story of the only organized major defensive effort to keep General Sherman from marching across South Carolina. The site is located in rural lower South Carolina but is well maintained and well worth the visit for anyone interested in SC history. The Park Historian is very knowledgeable and genuinely enjoys meeting and guiding visitors around the site. The Confederate earthworks are well preserved and a true sense of the action can be obtained from viewing the site, unlike many battlefields that have gone through multiple redevelopments.

A walk in the woods. There are some mounds. You can walk to the water, and swamp. If the Park Ranger now is as good as the one when I visited than the trip is worth making.

I only have vague memories of going there with my family when I was little. We used to fish close to that location and the fish tasted so fresh and clean. I bet it looks wonderful now as the trees have aged about 40 years since my last visit.

went to park with family on a quiet sunny morning. It's a quiet place-but that adds to the enjoyment of the park. the park has a trail with great signs describing the battle. The battle site was where the Confederates tried to slow shermans march toward Columbia. the earthen mounds that the southerners dug still remain to this day. it's great to see these physical reminders of the battle. The park is not overly large but does have the following: picnic area with grills, walking trail, old road that soldiers marched down, the battlefield itself and a confederate cemetary. there is a ranger station on the grounds. the park is FREE!! donations are accepted. Being a history a buff, I was quite pleased to experience the site. It's clean.quiet and a safe park. I liked it very much. If you enjoy history and want to check out an old civil war battlefield= go to Rivers Bridge. You won't be disapointed.
