We went to the Planetarium and the last day of the "Tis The Season" Show. I had just found out about it the day before, and had to call in the reservations (which are recommended for each show) almost as soon as I found out about it. I also told my sisters-in-law who had been looking for something that would be good for a family outing. It started off in the projection room, a small but not cramped room with a spherical projection dome overhead. The shows in this room are a must see all year round, but for me, this show was a special one, considering the time of year. I highly recommend a season pass. The evening ended with a trip to the observatory to get a look through the telescope. The fee is $5.00 for adults, unless you're a member, and well worth it at that price.

Not many people know about the planetarium shows that go on here, but I've been with several people several times and we always have fun. It's a neat thing to do, so do it at least once. Well worth the money for sure.

Excellent place to take your family, especially kids to visit. If they are having a show that evening at the Planetarium, by all means take it in!! It is one of the most informative shows I've seen and they do change it up during the year so you won't see always the same show.

We had been to Aiken, South Carolina during this week end. Having come to know about the Dupont Planetarium, we made a visit to this planetarium on Saturday. The DuPont Planetarium is located at the University of South Carolina, Aiken. The Planetarium which was opened in September 1995, conducts school programs, general-interest level PROGRAMS for the public, specialized programs for UNIVERSITY classes, and private shows for parties and other events. The Planetarium consists of 45-seats, a 30-foot diameter tilted aluminum dome, planetarium projection systems and Spice automation system.. These equipment's have the capabilities of all-sky, video and panoramic projection.Apart from the shows for students and for University classes, the DuPont Planetarium is open for public SHOWINGS on Saturdays. All shows are of one hour and each show includes a live "sky tonight" portion. We were incidentally here on a Saturday and we could attend the show. It was fantastic and educative too. Other public shows like Mission to Mars, Solar System, Dark Shadows are scheduled on different dates during August and September during this year. One more interesting thing is that the DuPont Planetarium chamber houses the only known "camera obscura" that shines on the inside of a planetarium dome.
