Quick stop - smallish but packed with information. More helpful here. I love how this area is nestled and quaint. I should have stayed here instead of at Paradise Inn. This location also has the National Park Inn.

Interesting to learn about the Longmire family, who started a hot springs resort here before the park. Also can take a 20 minute look walk to see the old cabin where some of the visitors stayed many years ago. Museum has some history and next to it is an old gas station.

the 1920s cabins and the original gas station with its vintage pumps are now home to the little Longmire museum. exhibits cover the native Americans who lived here, wildlife and geology. All in all, worth a 10 minute stop on your way into or out of the park.

Great place - I always like seeing the older, original, National Park museums/ranger stations/visitor centers. Just wish that more of them could be preserved. There should be a place for the old and the new. For example, the Paradise visitor center is new, massive and state of the art.... But the Longmire Museum is wonderful too and I hope that others will appreciate it as well.

Average historical museum for a NP. No more than an hour at most. Worth a visit to pick up some park history.

Although this was a small museum it was filled with many informative and wonderful exhibits. Ranger on duty to answer any questions you might have.

Longmire is a "don't miss" when visiting the park. It includes an old inn, rest rooms and the Longmire Museum, which is filled with old items and information about the Park.

This is a small museum, but has a very helpful female ranger there who gives those who are interested good information. The restrooms are next door to museum. It has a small gift shop, but the prices are fair, some items were cheaper here than at the larger Paradise Gift Shop.

We walked 1.5miles from Cougar Rock camping to Longmeyer with two eight year old girls. They did OK. We learned much to our disappointment there are no hot springs there to speak of. There is a neat suspension bridge, museum, inn, old time gas station, and gift shop/limited grocery. It is a historic site as the architecture is the model for all our national parks! The girls enjoyed the exhibits. They were tired and needed coaxing along the trail of Shadows which is adjacent to the inn and has some diverse wetland habitat followed closely by old growth cedar, Douglas fir and Hemlock. Some big trees with intact canopy and habitat. Its a tiny, free museum that is a nice into to the park. There is MUCH more at the visitors center 10miles and 30minutes up the road in Paradise.

The museum if filled with exhibits about the park and its wildlife. It will enhance your understanding of the area.

If you wish to lean about Longmire and the towns history as a resort, the small museum and the old gas station here will entertain and inform. Both are filled with old photographs stories and maps. There is a section on the natural habitat, the type of game found here and a complete history of how and why Longmire , Washington came to be a popular resort destination beginning back in the early 1900's. A park employee is on duty to answer questions and help explain the hiking trails and road maps to visitors. Worth a visit.

How can a museum be closed for training.? You have all winter for training. They sent you to the wilderness center for info. The preson was nice but I wanted more info about James Longmire, the discovery of the mineral springs and the fact that the "HORSE" found the springs as it roamed the meadow. it appears people are digging and removing the travertine from the meadow

This is okay. Given the amount of history in this park, it should be much much better. It was must more of a history lesson walking the trial across the street.

The museum is very small but makes very good use of its space. It was quite informative and enjoyable.
