The campground is beautiful with shade and green grass everywhere. The swimming/boating is super for kids. The only challenge we had were the restrooms....they are composting latrines and super smelly. Lots of bugs and just pretty much icky. No lights at night but there are sinks to wash your hands. No showers so we brought our own. Otherwise it's a great park and fun place to camp.

Wawawai County Park is a great place to take a picnic, fish from the shore, and and spend the day in the sunshine. Close to Pullman and great for a day trip during the summer.

My boyfriend who lives in Pullman took my daughter and me down to the park. It was beautiful and we had a lot of fun. The water was pretty warm and we walked around before relaxing under the shade of the beautiful trees. Like walking through grass with your shoes off? You can do it here. Next time we will try out the camping area. Not crowded at all!

We camped overnight and really enjoyed the peace. We wished there was at least electrical hookups so we wouldn't have the noise of running the generator for power.

We started off our day by picking up our son who is attending school in Pullman, WA. We wanted a fun day in the sun by the water, without a long drive. He suguested nearby Boyer Park. It is an easy 45 minute drive to the park by way of WA-194/Almota Rd. Boyer Park has a day use area with bathrooms and showers as well as play area, a hiking trail and a roped off swim area. The park also offers a camping area, although we did not use it. The swim area is right on the Snake River and a little island and ropes divide the area from the main river. We found the park to be very clean and on the week day we were the only ones enjoying this area. We found a covered area to picknic in with tables. We saw some water foul and tiny fish and crawdads in the water. We stayed several hours enjoying the park. Our next stop was just a bit further up the road to check out the Lower Granite Lock and Dam. You are able to cross over the dam with little problems. Just stop at the guard crossing and in a few minutes you are driving over this massive structure. We found that on the other side of the dam there is a visitor center. You can walk through on your own and look around or can ask for a free "Hard Hat Tour". Be warned, if you want to do tour, you must have closed-toed shoes, not flip flops. None in our party had the propper foot wear so we just looked around the visitor center. We found a very friendly Ranger, (I believe her name was Rita.) She told us all about the fish, how the fish go through the ladders to get over the dam and that each fish is counted. Inside the visitor center the entire wall where the fish ladder is made of clear glass so you get to see the fish as they make their journey. One by one, large and small fish go through and are counted. The gentleman in the counting room explained about how he counts the different fish. It was amazing to see both large and small fish swimming with all their might to get through. Our ranger Rita even talked to my oldest son about career opportunites at the dam and with or Army Corps of Engineers. We are planning on going back with shoes to do the "Hard Hat Tour" very soon. If you find yourself out in the Palouse and looking for something different to do, I highly recommend stopping by the Lower Granite Lock and Dam Visitor Center. It is well worth the drive. This is an easy drive from the Spokane area as well.

Nice area, well maintained. One large covered picnic area with lots of picnic tables, bbq's and sinks. Lots of single picnic tables too. Great fishing pond off of the river. Easy bank for kids. Well maintained grass areas, trees and clean restrooms.
