We visited the cidery while staying at the vacation rental on the property (http://www.finnriver.com/visit/farmstay-retreat). You pay $5 to taste a wide range of ciders/wine - I think about 6. The bartenders were so friendly and we felt right at home. When we got to the Pear Cider, the server said "this is the gateway cider" and boy was she right. It was perfect, not too sweet and not too much alcohol. So I happily bought several bottles of it. This is a really fun way to spend a few hours especially if you are new to the hard cider world (like I was).

We tried the black currant cider, What a treat. I have since tracked down where to buy in Portland and purchased some for our home.

One of the best things about visiting this part of the country is the abundance of local organic farms. Finn River is one of my favorites for overall beauty and atmosphere. When the blueberries are abundant, you can pick your own organic blueberries and they are Delicious! On the Sunday we were there it was a mixture of couples, singles and families all enjoying a day on the farm. Afterwards, you can have pizza and a glass of cider at their pavilion which is a friendly and cute gathering spot. They also have an adult tasting room for all their ciders. Kids loved the giant pile of dirt and wood chips with the toy trucks along with visiting the chickens and pigs. It is a great way to get outside and understand where good food comes from.

My wife and I always try to make Finnriver a place we visit when friends are in town. The property is beautiful. There is an outdoor dining room with a wood fired oven. Dented Buoy makes pizza there on Sundays, and it's the best in town. Although I don't use alcohol myself, my friends who do tell me the cider is fabulous. A must see when in the area.

We stopped by to check out the hard ciders, but got an opportunity to enjoy beautiful scenery, some great wood fire pizza, live music, and an opportunity for blueberry picking. The ciders, too, were wonderful! As well as the liqueurs- try a tasting there! It's a great experience.

Having never been to a cidery, but definitely down for a good tasting room, we took a detour to FinnRiver. Driving through the interior country, through farm lands and down a private driveway, we felt truly removed from the world and officially on "vacation". It was also so strange to visit such a private operation and be so welcomed and invited in. The tasting room, part of the barn, sits between the growing field and the bottling plant, but don't worry, if you can't find it the dogs will herd you in there! We were greeted, taught briefly and informatively about cider - the process, the concept, the way to taste it and spent a good half hour or so doing a tasting of all their wonderful unique flavors. Once completed and purchases made we were invited to walk the grounds of the farm - which spanned acres - for as long as we wanted on our own, which was treat of its own. Our doggie guide showed us the well worn trail that he clearly uses all day and we saw the staff picking ingredients for the next batch. What a great local, sustainable and Eco-friendly operation!! I both enjoyed and could appreciate their business model and product! Such a great little detour!!

Very good blueberry picking. Wife and I picked 11 pounds in about an hour and a half. Then to the eating area: excellent wood-fired pizza -- from DentedBuoy -- and hard cider.

Thank you for your honest review. I do want to apologize for the wait last weekend. It was a "special release" event so we knew it would be busier than normal, but we were caught entirely off guard by the tremendous crowd and while it was delightful to have so many folks here, we understand your frustration. We are doing several things to improve the situation by expanding the tasting room, bringing on more staff and changing our cash register to make it speedier. We would be happy to offer you a gift certificate for a cider order if you would like to email me at info@finnriverfarm.com with your contact information. Again, our earnest apologies and we hope you choose to come back on a quieter day so we can offer you our best attention! Crystie Kisler, co-owner Finnriver

Thank you for your visit and for your helpful feedback! We began charging tasting fees at the request of the local winery association and also because it really helps us stay open 7 days a week. Opening bottles can get very expensive but we want to be as accessible as possible, so we are trying to find a balance there. Good news is that we waive the fee with any 6-bottle purchase and you also receive an additional 10% off for a case. We will keep reviewing the tasting fee policy to see if we can make it an even better experience and be sure it is worth the money!

We appreciate your kind comments and that you took time to visit us at Finnriver! The history and craft of cider fascinates us as well and we hope to have more educational displays in the next year so folks can learn even more about this tasty heritage beverage.
