baylands park

I visited this park and it was nice. It is a somewhat interesting experience as part of the park is very dry (brown) due to the drought and the other park has green grass, flowers, and a beautiful picnic area. There is also an experimental garden which is by the parking lot on the dry side of the park (i.e. this is August 2014 year of the drought). That area was quite pretty with beautiful plants.I took a walk around the dry area of the park, including the wave trail. This is a fun place to go for a walk. There is also a much longer bike and walking trail that is called the Bay Trail which connects Sunnyvale and Mountain View. It goes along the slough and the salt ponds. (Note: On some sections of this trail one can find free parking.)I then visited the green part of the park to enjoy relaxing afternoon in the sun. This part has green grass, play grounds for the kids, individual and group picnic tables, nice barbecue areas, and more. There is a swing set also for the kids. There are flowers planted in this areaDuring certain times of the year it is an area to look for birds during migration time. I could also see a view of Levi's Stadium (where the San Francisco 49er football team plays) from the park.In the summer there is a $6 parking fee, which is paid at the manned entrance station to the park. In the winter there is not a fee. Those who walk in or bike in do not pay a fee so its basically a parking fee if you are driving a car.In terms of Baylands - think of it as grasslands. It is not going to have beautiful views of the bay. If that is what one is interested in seeing in the south bay area, best views for that is to go to nearby Alviso and go to their free park there called Alviso Marina County Park.I had a mixed feeling whether to rate Baylands park average or good....but decided it may just be the time of year since some of the park is so dry and its the year of the Great California Drought (2014). As such, I figure normally it is a very good park. I did like the area for picnics; the hiking trails, and the wave trail a lot.

Lots of open space, several small playgrounds scattered between barbecue/picnic areas. Nearby our hotel (Country Inn & Suites), so it was pretty convenient. Nearly empty when we went on a Friday evening.

This is a quiet place to walk among the levees, see water fowl and enjoy the view of the East Bay. Sometimes a relaxing walk (you can go for miles if you choose) is exactly what you want. This is not a challenging walk. I know that runners enjoy this place too.

The Baylands Park is great place to hang out with family and friends. I particularly like the walking paths along the San Francisco Bay. It is easy to get to (unless you are trying to visit during Google commute hours) and has the option to sit and enjoy the scenery, walk along the paths or host a family/friend gathering. Enjoy!

Baylands gives you an idea of how part of the bay is 'built'. Wide soft dirt paths allow families to ride their bikes, for joggers to get their run in and walkers to mosey along with ample room for all. Can be windy!

Just returned from the Indian Community Center Sevathon where I ran for the Hindu American Foundation for the 2nd time in 2 years. The park & its walk/runways are nice. Nice views as well.

It is a very nice and well maintained park in sunnyvale off HW 237,very easy to get ,next to the bay.If you are the park during the season you have to pay to get in or you can get a yearly pass.It is good place for small children to run around and not being worried about too many cars around since it a is a closed kind a park.You can run or bike or walk and also they have large field people play soccer as well.This is number 1 park in sunnyvale , many people host parties and events during the season as well.

Very good place to go and hang out, especially during good weather, large open areas that allow you to relax and spread out without being crowded. Nice casual weekend afternoon idea, to enjoy some sun and quite time.
