Unique and well worth the $. It is a lovely place to spend a couple of hours with young children. I highly recommend checking it out.

This is attached to Lake Merritt...see that review...primarilly for young children (preschool-yearly grades). Very nicely done and has been in operation for over 50 years.

This is a great indoor amusement park with lots of attractions and a variety of fun for all ages of kids.

This place brings make many memories of childhood and still today's children delight. It has been renovated which was necessary. Not fancy but fun.

This place is an Oakland staple, and like Oakland it is a little run down but we love it anyway. They have adult nights where you can go drink beer and run around like a child. No admission without a child during regular hours, aka no creepers. I think it worth getting the magnetic key to hear the stories. Good for younger kids (2-5yo)

No doubt about it - this is a place for children and those young at heart. I like the reading room where you can plop down in a comfortable beanbag, select a stack of books and read with your grandchildren. The small garden is interesting and it is fun teaching the children what the different plants are. The plays are always fun to watch or fun to watch the children enjoying it. I wish the snack shop offered some healthy snacks along with the usual dreary hotdogs, hamburgers, and french fries. If the gifts shop sells nice garden plants I am often tempted to buy a few pots. Parents and grandparents this is a fun place to bring the kids.

We took our 3 year old grandson there for the day and met a friend with their 3 year old grandson. It was great! The boys loved it, it was safe and they could "shake their sillies out." We had been told that Fairyland was run down, but we didn't think so. The boys loved the train, ferris wheel, live animals and the King Midas puppet show. Be sure to buy a key for $3. No one told us so we had to wait to hear each story until someone else came.

We took our two granddaughters there for the day while they were staying with us. We all thoroughly enjoyed the day, the activities + they could run around and be safe :)

My first visit to this place and I was expecting an older theme park in need of updating. This is true and it isn't true at the same time. Yes, some areas could use some sprucing up but this place has a soul and is something magical. I can imagine the management worrying about sacrificing these important things. Yes, it's small but it's for little kids! Children can get totally immersed in imaginary play here. It's a very special place. They even have a reading room for kids needing a rest. My 3 & 6 year old spent about 4 hours here but could have stayed longer. The Children's Fairyland staff were fantastic! Everyone was friendly, kind and patient with all the children I saw them interact with. I didn't eat here so I can't talk about the food. They so have lovely picnic tables but they are in short supply. Also, the bathrooms are very limited so that takes some planning ahead.Parking: you have to pay the city but it's affordable at $2 per 2 hour increment. The parking area is also for the adjacent lake so it can be very full.Enjoy!

I found a great deal on living social for the entire family. I had never heard of this place and my 3 little girls were anxious to go. Upon arrival, the place was packed. There were so many other local elementary schools attending at the same time. I highly advise that you go during the weekdays. My kids had a fun time but the place looks very old and run down. My girls asked me why the place looked the way it did and I told them that they probably didn't have budget for a facelift or remodel. This is a one-time visit kinda place but it's worth at least one visit. My kids aren't interested in going back. There are a lot of options out there.

We could see where Mr. Disney got a lot of his inspiration for Disneyland in Anaheim. The entry fee was well-priced. Our son loved it there! We'll definitely be back. The only thing I would've liked to have seen is a better selection in the gift shop. There were several toys, yes, but the only distinctively Fairyland items were t-shirts and they didn't have any in our son's size so we didn't get one. Still - the lack of over-commercialism of the place was refreshing.

One of my friend recommended this place. Reviews looked good as well. Went there during the long weekend and was 100% disappointed. It's a very small place compared to other themed parks you can find around. They have set up's which looks like places from fairy tale storiey books, that's it. There have two small rides for little ones, two slides and the rest of the things were completely boring. I came across several parents who were trying to find something to entertain there toddlers, since the kids themselves were completely uninterested in that place. However they only charge $8 for each person, which is reasonable for what they have, but not worth it in my personal opinion. We didn't know what to do after the first two hours ( which is already boring), we left the park and went to the aviation museum in oakland, My kid loved those planes more than the fairyland park.Overall, If you want to have a good exciting experience do not go here. In other words, don't have high expectations when you go there. You can find better things to do with free play area in public parks.

So special we take our Grandchildren there for many special events made with the kid first in mind and no Adults without a child.. very safe and special to children from infant to pre teen .. teens have opportunities for employment .. just so special hard to explain but no fears for children to be children..fairytale land alive...

Bringing my three year old nephew here is a joy. It is an amusement park for little ones! do not expect flashy or loud or high tech, this place literally has not changed much since it was built, but those charming instillations straight out of a story book would fill any five year old with wonder. This place is not about rides ( it has just a few including a merry go round my nephew was not big enough to ride) but about wild free play, skidding down the grassy " Jack and Jill " hill on a piece of cardboard or running through The Rabbit a Hole from Alice And Wonderland to playing on the pirate ship to climbing the giant dragon slide and riding the little train past the "Old West" town. I think my nephew likes this place because the minute we walk in we can set him loose and he is safe, older kids will not trample him, he is not going to get hit by a car and every corner he turns there is something to look at or do. He likes to stand under the mushroom with the elf on top, trying to catch the bubbles coming out of his pipe. The puppet shows and story time are a blast if your little one will sit still. I do a lot of running around catching up with him here, and he always leaves exhausted but happy. Oh yes and there is a very reasonable snack shop set up in a " giant apple" and there is a gift shop for children of all ages and all budgets. Very reasonable. Buy a magic key to take around and play the different storybook tales and music. You can use this key every time you return and it is the perfect souvenir! The holidays are a really special time where you will find the children dancing up on the stage with storybook characters or visiting Santa in Fairylands own children's size chapel. The place is open after dark so you can go after work or shopping and enjoy the added splendor of the holiday "fairy lights" sparkling EVERYWHERE . Summer they have a camp in fairyland program and they even have a Fairyland for Adults night. Truly magical.Fairyland is not for teenagers, older kids only interested in video games and high tech gadgets, people that do not care for children, and people with no imagination. This place is not all shiny plastic and metal but older instillations from a time gone by, ( many are original from when it was built) a more innocent era, and your younger child with see all it's magic with wide eye wonder! Do take them well fed and early or after nap time because a grumpy child will get overstimulated quickly but will want to stay anyway! :-) Take lots of pictures. The mushrooms, humpy sumptuous and many other treats await, there is a green picnic area and a Greek theatre style stage. Make sure you check the hours and day before you go so you don't show up disappointed!

My kids 7,3&2 had a blast, the rides were just the right size. They loaned me a stroller which was nice. They just really need so one to drop some of that Silicon Valley $$ on them so they can really update it and clean it up nice. My son loved Jack & Jill Hill.
