JJ's is a funky dive in a nondescript strip mall, but a great blues palace nonetheless. The pics on the wall of past performers, both deceased & alive, could fill a blues "who's who" (examples: John Lee Hooker, Albert King, Albert Collins, & Charlie Musselwhite, to name just a few). I'd known of the place for years but didn't finally make it there until just recently. Enjoyed a dynamite show from one of the most dynamic & talented blues-beltin' mamas out there today, Kaye Bohler. And her band, esp the guitarist Sammy Varela & her keyboard guy Richie both hold their own with some of the best I've ever heard - and I've heard a lot over a long period of time.
