Parking was readily available for a $10 daily fee. There are a few easy sloped entries to the beach and several rough climbs down. If you brought gear - take a few minutes to meander and find the easy walks down - your body will thank you for it … The beach was wide and easy to walk with lots of families enjoying their day. We found a great little spot next to the cliff that was sheltered from the wind enough to rest in the sun without a sweater. Definitely a calm and relaxing beach - check it out!

We enjoyed our time in Dunes Beach State Park. It was one of those glorious sunny warm summer days. The sky was blue; the ocean beautiful. So scenic. It was also a nice place to walk as well.There is a large parking lot here as well as restroom.

When it gets hot in the San Francisco Bay Area, we like to go to the beach to cool off. Dunes Beach State Park has miles of soft sand beach, though not white as the sand in Florida or even San Diego, but nice enough on those rare hot days. You have to pay $10 to enter and park your car. Worth it to avoid parking on HWY 1 and crossing the busy roads to get to the beach. Basic restrooms are provided. Waves are tame. Great fun to pitch an umbrella and lay a blanket out. I took a long walk along the shore. So relaxing.
