Wine making is beginning to really take off here in the north state. There are many wineries that have opened in the last several years and a lot of them are quite good. But the best by far is the Dakaro outside the town of Whitmore.Their quality is attested to by their many awards from major competitions across the state. And that quality is consistent. Many smaller wineries tend to suffer from inconsistency, but that is definitely not an issue here.The prices are very reasonable and they don't have a tasting charge, which is pet peeve of mine.The winery itself is conveniently located 25 minutes east of Redding and I-5.If you like wine and are in the Redding area make sure that you put this place at the top of your list. You won't regret it.
