We were on our way up 99 to Tahoe and wanted to stop for gas and lunch . We got off and had never been . This was in day. We went on their main north south street and lots homeless people and we went to Chevron Station and wife locked car while I went to pay cash to gas up. People inside were nice but there's a bad vibe there and would not want to stop at night. For a road break on 99 , stop in Lodi 10 miles north and go to Denny's. Much safer. I read marina is neat but I won't stop here again. Recommend taking 5 freeway as more stops and less depressed towns .

Stockton is a dangerous, filthy city full of homeless people and gangs! The police seem to have given up on maintaining order. I met many nice people during my brief (but not brief enough to avoid being a victim of crime!)visit, but the town itself is horrible. For instance, the beautiful park shown on the visitor's bureau web page is actually a hangout for homeless people and drug dealers. There are many nice cities in the area, but Stockton is not one of them

The stuff are friendly and we walked in and obtained sufficient information. People in Stockton is nice too.

Visited the Stockton Convention & Visitors Bureau after their recent relocation to the historical B&M building where I worked from 1993 to 2003 when it housed the State Department of Corrections Parole office, The colorful history of the building includes a belief by many that it is haunted. Not being faint of heart, I applied to work part time or volunteer at the agency now housed there.

great use of info, we had no problem findng it, and was A ok! Only problem was could not get there quick enough, and get on with our day.

Monica Slingerman knows how to show you the best of what Stockton has to offer. She's great! Try a dinner boat cruise on the delta with Opportunity Cruises, or catch a game at the Stockton Ports Baseball Stadium. Both of these events were very fun!

We had plenty of things to see while we were walking around. By car you dont enjoy as much though. i came from Gilroy, CA to visit family and we walked around and had a great time.

I can't imagine what people must think coming from other cities to downtown Stockton, it is dirty and questionable people everywhere, crime is rampant, just not safe at all.
