This is one of the best kept secrets about Richmond: the Marina and the ever expanding Bay Trail are beautiful.Along the way, you will connect with bits of history such as the Craneway building (ex Ford plant), Rosie the Riveter WWII national park; pleasant housing developments with attending Marinas; the old industrial rail road that was rehabilitated and paved over to form the new trail. All along the way, you can admire unblocked views of the Richmond San Rafael Bridge, Marin County, the Golden Gate bridge, San Francisco, the Bay bridge and bits of Alameda County. If birds are your thing, be sure to bring your binoculars. The trail is muti use except horses. It extends several miles through Abany, Berkeley and Emeryville, connecting several local and regional parks. There are plenty of parking spots along the way.

Walking on the trail is very relaxing. You will encounter numerous bikes, joggers, people walking their dogs. The trail has light at night and feels safe. Sometimes you can see people kayaking and paddle surfing.

It can be breezy because the trail is right next to the water. There's so much to see scenery-wise, plus the marina, the Rosie the Riveter Ctr and Memorial, the Assemble Restaurant, etc. are attractions along the way. Can't wait to go back.

I was looking for a good place to watch the sun rise over the Berkeley Hills this Winter Solstice Morning - checked my LIght Trac App and saw that Shimada Park would be an ideal place.I shared the park with joggers, dog walkers and bikers (the bicycle kind). It's a nice place to sit, watch the bay, think about your business plans, and get them all in a ... well you know

In good weather, this is a great place to be outdoors -- bay views, wild life sanctuary, even a dog park if you're so inclined. Be prepared for wind, though.

A great place to ride your bike on warm weekends! Breathtaking views of the bay, varied scenery and terrain, great stops along the way. Safe for all types of folks, regardless of you capabilities. Can't be beat!

This is a flat, paved trail with parks along it. Richmond has 23 miles of shoreline and the Bay Trail is a beautiful part of it. It is used by families, bicyclists, walkers, and joggers. For birders, the shorebirds and ducks are best viewed between early November and mid-March when the migratory birds return. One of the restaurants right on the Trail is Salute's which serves Italian food and has a spectacular view of the marina and of San Francisco across the Bay. Another is Amini's where you can buy sandwiches to go or to eat on the patio. The Bay Trail is a jewel in Richmond and I can't say enough good things. I am biased though because I live one block away.

I live on the Bay Trail and have the great fortune of looking upon it and the bay all day, every day. The air is clean and clear, the view awesome. There are benches along the way, as well as parks for picnics. The trail is virtually flat. Easy on people that don't want the hill experience. People ride their bicycles, walk, in-line skate and generally enjoy the beauty and peacefulness of this area. Especially nice to walk over to Salute's Restaurant near the marina for yummy cocktails and tasty Italian food. Good for couples, solos, families friends, just about anybody and everybody.

It is a great place to walk or ride a bike. The boat harbor is all along the area of Marina Bay. There are great views of the City and the Bay. There are also nice views of the East Bay Hills. My dog like the walk.

The Marina Bay Trail is beautiful and very accessible. Parking is readily available. It's wonderful to walk along the water. If you like birding, you'll likely get a chance to spot some great birds as you walk too. Dogs are welcome, as are bike riders. There's a nice playground along the trail and clean bathrooms are available. Bring layers as the temperature can vary as you walk along the path and can get chilly on some days.
