The woman behind the counter was knowledgeable and very friendly, and there were a multitude of interesting and attractive wine-related items sold in their tasting room. The wine itself wasn't wonderful, but for Amador County, it was actually quite good. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

We stopped at Deaver for the first time after many trips to Amador's wineries. We were surprised by the lovely surroundings with a lake and picnic area. Upon entering, we saw an amazing display of merchandise - and I love shopping, so spent some time wandering about. We tasted the wines available that day and purchased a bottle along with some wine "ephemera". It seemed as if the wines were a bit more expensive than the other wineries we usually buy from, but we'll stop by again on our next pass through Amador.

Friendly, unstuffy, atmosphere. Bought a sparkling fruit wine that we had no trouble finishing up in one sitting -- my husband and I.Bring your picnic lunch. There's a huge barn down by the lake. There are picnic tables and plenty of space to relax. If mosquitoes are attracted to you, do bring that bug repellent.

One of our families favorite wine tasting spots. The family here is terrific. The wines are really good. We had a picnic by the pond and spent some time just enjoying the beauty.

Great place to wine taste and picnic. Excellent Zins and I prefer cabs with 100 percent cab, so these Zins surprised me! Ports are fabulous too. Worth adding to your list of wineries to try.

Deavers is one of the older family run wineries (100+ years) in Amador County. They have a wonderful large grassy picnic area next to a lake. Very peaceful. Wine tasting is COMPLEMENTARY, something you don't find in this area anymore. Don't expect a French Chateau like Napa as this is a wonderful old style tasting room. Wines are great and perfect to take a bottle with a couple of glasses and enjoy the picnic area.

Tasting at Deaver is always a pleasure. And they have some of the greatest zinfandels. I am particularly fond of one called Ten Zin. Their ports are also good. The tasting room is not huge, and friendly. The grounds are lovely, complete with pond, old barn and picnic area. Don't miss this winery on your wine tasting journeys.

We'd been told to buy a Jug of Deaver Red by others. It's an inexpensive blend of their Zins and value-priced. But you'll be more interested in the variety of Reds, especially the Zins. We will always stop by this levels spacious setting. Try a picnic lunch by the picturesque pond. This place is special!

we had rented a limo for our friends 30th to wine taste the shenedoah valley. i made appointmets at each place we went, we had six wineries to visit in 6 hours. when we arrived at deaver, they were so friendly, greeted us and had a special tent set up for our tasting. the little gal that served us was very knowledgable about the wines and very fun! they have one wine that comes in a "growler" (which is usually for beer), that you can bring back and have refilled! fun! they also have a great gift shop with wonderful tasty delights to try and buy! yum! dont miss this stop when visiting this area!

Great setting, wine, and service, a must do in the valley. As a limo group of 8 we were given our own tasting table and the server was very knowledgable and friendly.

We stayed at the Deaver Bed & Breakfast to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our time there was perfect. The B&B is clean and well-maintained, and our room was off of a 2nd floor balcony overlooking the lake. The views from our room and the balcony are spectacular. No matter which direction you face you're looking at a picture postcard of serenity and beauty. Joan is a wonderful hostess. She treated us more like friends than customers. I have never stayed at a B&B where guests were allowed in the kitchen, but we sat and shared stories with Joan while she made us breakfast. And WHAT A BREAKFAST! Everywhere we went the day before people raved about Joan's breakfast and they were right. It was delicious and the presentation was first rate. We could not have asked for a better experience, except that we wanted to stay longer!

Don't miss this winery. Try all the Reds and ask for the 'jug' wine if you are able to get it home without shipping. We partook of a special blind tasting of 7 quality Zins and thought the values were unmatched with any we have experienced in Napa or Sonoma.

wines only so-so and people more interested in their own conversations than us

Deaver wines are mostly good, the older the better. The Ten Zin is by far the best.
