There are nice plaques outside the homes but most are being used as businesses so not stocked with old furnishings as a museum would be. But still nice view of what Oxnard was like when first settled.

Heritage Square in Oxnard is a quaint collection of restored Victorian homes that are now mainly offices. It is not much visited by either locals or visitors.

I thought this place sounded so cute and looked cute in pictures. And it is. We visited, thinking it would be worth the stop, even though we knew we'd be too early for a Sunday tour (which is from 1-4pm.) We enjoyed walking around the complex by ourselves. Literally. No one was around (though we could hear nice singing coming from inside a church). What surprised me is that most businesses here are just real estate or salon types. Not really much by way of gift shops and tourist attractions. And just one restaurant in the complex. Not at all what I expected. I did enjoy seeing the architecture. If you want to see Victorian Homes, maybe try to time your visit with the docent tours. OR just plan a 15 minute stop to walk around. I bet the best time to see it is when it's decorated for Christmas.

Very quaint, historic buildings but most were replicas of the real thing. The chapel was very pretty but I don't think I would make the effort to visit the square as it is off the beaten path.

It is mostly just restaurants and old buildings. The food was good but expensive. The building were maintained well.

Love it, love it love it. The homes are amazing. There is one restaruant, La Dolce Vita, and a wine tasting house. I wish there were more places to eat there, But at Christmas and in the Fall, it's a must see for tours and Oxnard history. Fun

Nice historic buildings which were moved to this location and restored on site. Concerts are sometimes conducted outside in the center of this area. The local business sometimes have private parties.

If you like architecture, you'll enjoy seeing the buildings at Heritage Square. Heritage Square contains (maybe a dozen?) beautifully restored old/historic houses with landscaping and walking paths around them and placards in front of each building explaining their histories. They are occupied by businesses so excepting the ones with restaurants it doesn't appear that you can look inside. Still, it was enjoyable for a walk and break from the car. There is also a small gift shop in the square with a very friendly attendant.

Oxnard got one right by saving these old houses and restoring them after moving them to one block called Heritage Square. In the development of Southern California, farms, ranches and orchards were built into 'lots' of houses. In Oxnard some of the original owners homes were moved by heavy truck to one block downtown to preserve the legacy. Then these beautiful homes were restored, painted and put into use as restaurants, offices, theaters and museums. Convenient free parking.

Nice little square where old houses were moved, renovated and made into restaurants and businesses. Each house has a plack out front that tells its history. Very quaint.

Heritage Square is made up of early Oxnard Settlers's Homes. A docent gives the story of each home and the families that occupied them. The chapel is used as a popular wedding site and services are still given on Sundays. The homes are now used for various businesses,is an Italian restaurant , a wine tasting business, a dentist office, a farm business etc. Christmas is the best time to see it with all the decoration set to a theme, tours, and a trolley bus to take you to the heritage homes in old Oxnard that are all decorated up, known as Candy Cane a Lane.

Nice photo stop but most business are only open Friday to Sunday, the buildings have all moved from other locations and restored

Loved the homes that have been restored and tried the La Dolce Vita restaurant. Food was average but setting and service were great! Would visit again.

I love having a sweet place like this that indicates that the city cares about its community and its history. It's relaxing. The food at Le Dolce Vita is good.

Heritage Square is set in down town Oxnard. It is made up of old Oxnard homes that were moved to maintain the history of Oxnard. Oxnard was formed around farming and the sugar beet factory that brought in farmers, factory worker and business to meet their buying needs. Docents give the history and back ground of the core homes on the weekends. There is a small fee, but well worth it.
