As a supporter of this charity, it was a pleasure to have the chance to go see the actual farm itself while in the Sacramento area. (The drive there from Sacramento is about 1.75 hours, but goes fast if you can take highway 5.) No reservation was needed, I simply made sure they were holding a tour on the date I wanted to come by.I attended one of their regularly scheduled tours over the weekend and there were about 12 people total. After you paid $5 per person and signed a waiver that you won't sue in case you hurt yourself walking around the farm, you start off by watching an informational video that's about 7 min long. Then you're off to walk around the different areas of the farm. You can't go into all areas as some animals are more skittish than others, but we got to meet/pet cows, pigs, and sheep (plus one goat). You'll see chickens, turkeys, and ducks/geese too, but only from the outside of their enclosure. All the animals looked very well cared for and their areas were very clean (for a farm). It was sweet to be able to see the animals you read about in the organization's emails and other materials and was well worth the visit. All in all, the tour lasted a little over an hour, about 80 minutes.

This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Not only is the landscape spectacular with its rolling hills and blue sky but it is filled with all kinds of farmed animals who have been rescued from dire situations. Many of these animals come from factory farms, stockyards, livestock auctions, and slaughterhouses. To see these animals living in peace and knowing that they will never be 'used' for food was truly heartwarming but made me sad for the billions around the world who are not so lucky. The organization does an amazing job. Not only do they rescue animals but they also work to educate the public and fight to change laws so that keep farmed animals are protected. Go see it yourself - you won't be disappointed!!

LOVED loved loved Farm Sanctuary!!! I have been a sponsor for awhile and an active vegan so we decided to visit while we traveled the coast. Such a great experience to be up close and personal with the beautiful animals. Our tour girl was very imformative and made our experience knowledgeable and memorable. We were priviledged to stay in their on site country cabin which was very clean full of ameneties including full kitchen and bathroom soaps etc. I'd bring a dvd or some kind of game to keep you occupied. No matter what visit Farm Sanctuary learn about the animals and why farm sanctuary is so great. I will totally go back!

Walked among the animals - petted a turkey, scratched the belly of a pig. Also learned a lot about what happens to many animals raised for food and how the sanctuary rescues abused animals.

If you are an animal lover this is a great place to see. They have some interesting sounding events throughout the year too.

My husband and I stopped at the Farm Sanctuary on our way to San Francisco. We stayed in the little cottage they rent out. It was such a wonderful experience. The cottage was clean and very nicely appointed. I thought it was going to be bare bones but was surprised to find really nice soaps to use in the bathroom and literature to read in the sitting area. There is a nice kitchen (they ask that you only prepare and eat vegan food out of respect for their beliefs.) We chowed down on our eggplant bartha and rice and sat on the veranda and listened to the, well, silence. The only noise I heard all night was the air conditioner which was quite noisy and a noise I'm not familiar with, being from Alberta. In the morning, we awoke to a beautiful pastoral scene and made our way down to the farm area. Here we were greeted by the woman who showed us around the facility and introduced us to all the animals. It was such an enjoyable experience and so fun to play with the turkeys and the ducks. It was really educational, too. I had no idea pigs could be so terrifying. Ha Ha! I mean, I love them but they're not Babe. On our way home from San Francisco, we decided to make a detour just so we could visit the Farm Sanctuary again. I was so sad to leave and actually cried as I stroked Gideon and Isaiah on their technicoloured heads. I shouted one last "Gobbel!" to Gobble, the talking turkey and made my way up to the gift store for a yummy minty So Delicious soy ice cream bar.I should mention that our visit was actually in 2008. I said it was 2009 because Trip Advisor wouldn't let me go back any further. But, I'm just getting into compulsively writing reviews on it now.Any way, I <3 FARM SANCTUARY!!!!!

My wife and I absolutely live going to Farm Sanctuary every year. You get a chance to actually walk up, interact with, and enjoy the company of the farm animals without feeling guilty afterwards. Being vegan, its important to have places like this to go. Is you get a chance, attend their annual country hoe down usually in May or June each year.
