Went to learn about this type of train, ended up having a total blast! The place is pretty small, but you get to pretty much have full run of it. We got to see inside all of the cars and train engines. I asked tons of questions to which our Docent knew all but one answer to. But we went to another volunteer and they answered it. I was really impressed with the passion all of the staff and volunteers have at this place. You can tell the do it out of love. Parents take note: they do a train ride and Santa picture thingy here the 1st weekend of December every year. I would say that this is a must visit for anyone who is even mildly interested in trains.

my son's favorite place - we go almost every week. (He is train obsessed)They always let us see what they're building / restoring in the shed- a special treat. If you ask, they are happy to show you!You can also hang out in one of their cabooses and have a little snack- there are little tables and benches in there. You can even rent one for a birthday party! The staff are all sweet and helpful, and all volunteer their time.Love checking out the old photos of the area.

The museum is tiny but well constructed and well done. Kids absolutely love it but you may become a little antsy after the three minute mark. If you, or your kids, love trains, do stop in.

We were out for a drive, saw a sign for the museum and decided to stop in. We are very glad we did. A docent (87 years old!) gave us a great tour. You could tell he loves the place and loves sharing the history of the railroad and the museum. Another docent joined us and was equally enthusiastic. They took us to the workshop where they work on restoring the trains. Very interesting. The museum operates completely on donations, both from guests and equipment, lumber, etc. The museum also offers children's birthday parties (in a caboose) and hosts an annual Christmas party.

A lovely spot for the railroad afficianado as well as a great spot for the kids too. We take the family here every time they visit.

Full-size real as well as model RR locomotives and rolling stock. Films. Movie posters. A docent who gave us an in-depth tour and explanation of everything. Neat goodies in the store (we bought a trainman outfit for a great-grandson). Steam train rides on the weekend.

Very cool train museum. The Never Come, Never Go (NCNG) line is the stuff of legends around Nevada City..........fun little museum.

I really enjoyed this SMALL intimate museum. Took my son there for a field trip and love what they have done with it. Very clean and well arranged exhibits, not too big so easy to go through in an afternoon with out of town guests. The docants were engaging and loved hearing their personal stories as well as their tour style. Loved the gift shop and the prices were not outlandish. Am looking forward to returning soon.

This litttle little known narrow guage railroad museum has a lot to offer. The docents are very knowledgeable and on a quiet Sunday afternoon they even took us , just as a couple, back into the maintenance shop where they are restoring the cars and engines. My husband being a railroader was thrilled and delighted and the camera got many shots! We have lived in this area for over fifteen years and had never heard of this little museum until last Sunday. What a treat. A great gift shop as well and many things to interest even the nontrain people. We definiteyl will return here again!
