Went here as a neighborhood. We have one of those GREAT neighborhoods that have happy hours on Friday nights… it must have been one of those Fridays where I got talked into camping ( I'm a Holiday Inn Camper) The people who run it were so nice and had plenty of fire wood to keep our fire going. It was a great way to bond with everyone! I love to hike, and there were plenty of trails. Plus it is close to SD and close enough to have lunch in Julian, BONUS. The weather was mild at the end of July. Can't wait to go back this year!

The Mount Laguna area is the closest thing you are going to get to a hike in the woods in the San Diego area. There are actual trees, small peaks, wildlife, and even the occasional snowfall. There are tons of great trails in the area and it is also a great place to Geocache. When we want to spend sometime outdoors in San Diego this is usually where we head. What beach??? Don't forget to buy a Cleveland National Forest recreation pass which is required to park most places in the area.

Very few amenities on the mountain but full of great hiking and biking trails. Big Laguna, Desert View and Sunset trails are all relatively easy and very pretty. Great bird watching and wild flowers in the spring.
