Steeped in grand history, old-world elegance, beauty, service. Would have loved more time to explore area. A rich experience.

The Visitor's Center provided maps and cool gifts. We hiked 12 miles along the Bull Creek Flats Trail, and it was quiet, majestic, and with very few people.

No words for the acoustics, rustling peace, beauty, and humbling presence of these magnificent trees. Easy stop from 101 if you are driving through the area is Founder's Grove. Level walk, amazing retreat. Dyerville Giant fell years ago and is slowly being taken over as is the cycle in these forests. Amazing to stand next to a giant redwood and walk the length of it.

[the review/details are for 2 visits I did a while ago but reviewing old pictures, so please take a note while reading my review below]I have done the avenue of giants drive and stopover for experiencing large/old redwoods. - once with a college buddy on drive from bay area to portland (2005 April) & 2nd time with my wife on another road trip (June 2009)- no food facilities around Avenue of giants, which is a bummer, so carry food/snacks- amazing drive and redwood experience- great for kids/adults/old parents, small and easy hike/walk options- awesome for taking pictures for your home wall/facebook too :)- don't miss if you are driving around this region and have any inkling to nature

If you like redwoods, take a hike anywhere in this park and enjoy trees that were already old when the first Europeans arrived.

HRSP is such an amazing place filled with wonders that can be found on no other place on Earth. Just walk into a redwood grove, look around and up, breathe in deeply, and be struck by awe. Commune with the tallest and some of the oldest living beings. Note the many shades of green and brown, the feel of the ground, the tree-obscured sky, the ferns and clover, and you'll realize that magic abounds and you feel a better person simply for having been amongst these great, wise trees and their ecosystem.

As you wander around these woods, you will find yourself transported to the forest moon of Endor. Walking among these giant trees is a fairy tale experience. As we arrived, we saw a huge herd of Roosevelt elk from the highway. If you are familiar with photo spheres on your Android phone, this place is what they were invented for. Come early in the morning or a dusk to maximize your wildlife viewing. Restaurants are scarce, so pack a sandwich.

The sites were nice and we just met the length restriction with our motorhome. Once parked you have allot of room on your site but most of the time I had my eyes looking up at the massive redwoods. I was told that some of the star wars footage was filmed about 40min away which made my day, dreaming of Ewok's running around the forest all night.Great stop on the way to San Fransisco.

We are in this area every summer and spend at least one day in this area. We take several of the walks available and have lunch in the Women's Federation Grove. There are flush toilets and a great view.Driving through the Avenue of the Giants is well worth it even if you don't have time for anything else.If you are new to this area, I would recommend going to the Founders Grove where the Dyerville Giant is. There is a guided trail with information that gives a great overview to Redwoods. Seeing the downed trees gives perspective on the size. There are trail guides at the beginning of the drive in either direction. The walks are easy overall and beautiful. One of my favorite places.

I always enjoy walking among the redwood and enjoying the majesty and serenity of the trees. We spent the majority of our time at the Founders Grove and viewing the Founders Tree, The trail there is not long and is flat. This area is known for all the large fallen redwood trees.

The drive was really good...best part the weather was very good...especially it was foggy when we crossed over the lake which really gave a nice view...should visit Founder's tree at founder's grove...albino trees could be found at women's grove but it was closed for the season probably due to rains...drive-thru tree at the end of drive seemed like a waste of money but that's ok if you really want to...souvenir store near the drive-thru tree was quiet reasonable and lady was very polite...

Awesome trees! The forest is so ancient, and beautiful, it's quite unbelievable. Has to be on your bucket list.

This SP is the best place to see Redwoods, a lot of people head to the NP and miss this area - pure craziness as the best groves are here (with maybe the exception of Stout Grove in Jedediah SP).If you are driving down the Ave of Giants a brochure is provided on sites to stop at, ignore this it is a poor reflection of "highlights" it doesn't even mention the best spots which are Founders Grove, Tall Trees Grove (aka Star Wars Grove) and Rockafellar Grove. In fact we saw people walking around Founders and not going inside as they were too pre-occupied trying to find some plaque mentioned in that ridiculous brochure.Drive straight to the visitor centre to get all the correct visitor centre. We also camped here - at Baxters - very wild but we used the better facilities at the more developed sites. A great place! One of our USA highlights

This short tour is a great way to see the Redwoods. We stopped at 3 of the listed places to take a walk. The walking path on all was easy.
