Excellent service and wonderful food. One of the best restaurants in Granite Bay. A little more expensive then most of the restaurants in the area but worth it.

Quarry Ponds has changed ownership and seems to be headed in a very good direction. It is a nice place to stop in for a beer at the brewery or tapas at Source and just relax and watch birds on the gorgeous pond. You canis have one of the best meals ever at Hawkes! It is very pricey but is worth every penny and a must try for a special occasion!

Quarry Ponds is a place in Granite Bay that is still looking for its niche. The original idea by builder Lisa Powers was sort of an imitation Ferry Building market concept, which completely flopped due to the wrong tenant mix and the fact that this place opened just as the economy crashed. Initially it was filled with overpriced merchants who were paying high rents, but they were all soon gone and empty spaces prevailed as the bank lender took over the center in foreclosure. Even today the "market hallway" on the left side sits empty except for Pullman Kitchen and a tailor shop. Several restaurants have come and folded almost immediately in that wing, the last being Sarkisian Kabob. One of the design problems was a county 300 foot set back off Douglas Blvd., which assured a lack of drive by traffic stopping by for a meal as traffic whizzes by at freeway speeds. The back of the complex has nice patios on the ponds, but these are largely underutilized except by Pete's Restaurant. There's several very good businesses like Hawks Restaurant, Source, and the Capital wine cellars. Pullman Kitchen (with 400 sq. feet) and Peet's Coffee do an outstanding job bringing traffic in for take out of excellent and very reasonably priced food and coffees. Too bad the center has been a revolving door of tenants who can't seem to generate any traffic of their own.The foreclosing bank recently sold to a local investment group, who are now totally involved but not necessarily in a good way. The word seems to be they are trying to micromanage and also don't know what to do with the lack of tenants for Market Hall. The only thing that is going to help this place is a robust economy that will encourage new ventures, unfortunately that situation is elusive and appears many years away.
