the bier garden of encinitas

Went to Encintas last Saturday to explore and found this place for lunch. It was pretty crowded, but the hostess managed to find us an outdoor table in the back, which is actually adjacent to an small shopping mall. Our waitress came by and presented a drink menu well-stocked with local San Diego beers. I ordered a Lost Abbey Road to Helles from San Marcos, and my gf had a Blood Orange Margarita which she enjoyed. She had a Sonoma Burger, served with Swiss cheese and arugula, tomato, caramelized onion-bacon red wine aioli and I know she liked it. I ordered Bier battered fish and chips with Saint Archer Blonde batter, slaw, tartar sauce and malt vinegar. There were 3 large pieces of crispy fish, with a generous helping of coleslaw, plus fries, ketchup, lots of malt vinegar and tartar sauce. Very crunchy and full of flavor! Also tried another local brew, Belching Beaver Peanut Butter Milk Stout, which was rich and flavorful, and yes, it had a slight hint of peanut butter! The Bier Garden is a bit pricey, But i would not hesitate to visit the next time I'm in Encinitas!

Three of us, my wife and son and I stopped in after a Christmas concert. The place was packed but the staff friendly, including the bouncer. Not only did they put our name on the wait list she took our mobile number so we could wander a bit.Once seated, the staff was friendly and helpful with our beer selections.First thing we tried was the hummus appetizer and it was excellent. My steak and frittes were very good and my son really enjoyed his fish tacos. My wife's salad also looked really good.We really enjoyed ourselves and had a great time. We'll be back!

This is such a great fun, enjoyable characteristic restaurant and large range of beers! I am amazed as well that no one has written a review on our little piece of paradise in Old downtown Encinitas/Leucadia. We have lived here over 20 years and have seen too many attempts at failed establishments, and Bier Garden has survived. We walk here and enjoy the ambience and love sitting up at the open bar where the windows all open up to a nice outdoor seating and the Whole Foods are next door, with small shops around! Come on guys try this wonderful place! Good food also and the wait staff goes out of their way to make you feel comfortable, and yes they will let you sample a beer before you order just to make sure you will like it!

I can't believe no one has reviewed this restaurant yet. It is a wonderful addition to downtown Encinitas. It shares a patio with the new Whole Food' s building in the center of town. While multiple other restaurants failed in this location, these guys got it right. They opened up the back wall, adding light and an outdoor patio that's off the street. You see groups of people from lunch all through the afternoon and evening enjoying the friendly atmosphere and local craft beers. The perfect place to meet friends.NOTE TO Trip Advisor: The Bier Garden of Encinitas should be in the restaurant section not in the attractions. There isn't really a garden here!
