The park is located next to a major crossing of I-580 and I-680, so it's very easy to get to. It's a regional park, so it's less known. The best time to visit is probably spring. A lot of green grassy hills covered with California Poppy flowers - beautiful! The main trail is about 3 miles along the ridge one way, it's very mild and opens up with great views to both Tri-Valley and the Bay. This area tends to be windy, so fresh air with great views feel very refreshing. There are some cows along the trail, they are curious but well mannered. However, you might need something more covering than sandals. It's a good idea regardless of cows because the trail has rocky spots. On the negative side, there are very few trees and no benches/water/restrooms along the way, only at the parking lot, so plan accordingly. BTW, it's free, no entrance or parking fees.
