Great displays of Alameda history and furnishings during the Victorian era and also Phyllis Diller was born here. There is also a House Museum on Alameda avenue that is open on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month. Tour the historic home with wonderful docents with information on its owner.

Interesting displays and dedicated volunteers make this museum a nice place to visit. Check out the times they are open as they are limited. Worth a drop in.

This could be a great museum but for now it's a tiny storefront with items from early Alameda on display. Don't get me wrong, it's still interesting and has a lot of items to see from Alameda's heyday past and it's free but they do have a donation jar. One of my favorite things on display was a book of matches with sticks that looked like bathing beauties with blue hair promoting the Neptune Beach attraction.

I visited the Alameda Museum on a special fund-raising day during which Phyllis Diller, an ex-Alameda navy wife, was celebrated with high style. Folks in Diller-like dress, vintage clothing sale were both particularly fun. This museum is tiny, but filled with local flavor--worthwhile if you want local Alameda insight.

A wonderful small museum on srteet level with permanent displays of "rooms" assembled from local furniture & furnishings. Many costumes and items from Neptune Beach Park. All well researched with plenty of explanations. Large gift shop from local donations has sheet music, lace, ceramics, linens, books and lots of unique items from "the old days" at very reasonable prices. Close to Park Street . Run totally by a dedicated crew of volunteers also operated the Meyers House Museum a few blocks away which is a period house filled with the families furniture & furnishings, plus costumes and a small gift shop in the basement. Inquire about open times. Donations are always appreciated.

Small, but full of history as you walk around their displays of antique furniture, photos, and memorbillia. Conveniently located right of Park Street, go spend about 30 minutes to walk through it. It is free, but donations are accepted as they pay to be there.
