Cuthills Vineyard is a great little winery/vineyard west of Pierce, NE. The owners, Ed & Holly Swanson, take pride in their craft and offer a wide selection of very delicious wines! They have tasting available, and, if you buy by the case, there is a discount. They also have homemade jewelry, T-shirts, and wine accessories for sale. Don't be afraid to ask questions! We do not know much about wines (what wine would go well with what food, etc.) but Ed can give you suggestions and doesn't make you feel condescended to for asking.

...and I mean TOTALLY. The winemaker is the owner is the everybody. The dry estate reds are actually...fully bodied and have depth of character! In Nebraska! If you're in town or in Norfolk or some other little backwater, you should go a little out of your way and check this place out. You won't be sorry.

I had contacted the winery a couple weeks before our visit, and was told they would be available for a tour. When we got there, we were told they were not available for a tour. The winetasting was less than expected. The winetasting "room" was dirty, cobwebs and dead flies in the window sills, and not a comfortable place to sit and relax. The grounds were unkempt and not very inviting.

Good wines (would recommend the Briannaberry Blush if you like sweet wines). Would be nice to have a food selection available as well. The host seemed to know his craft and was very friendly.

We've always enjoyed stopping in here for some free wine tastings. The reds are surprisingly good; I'm normally a white wine drinker. We do like the "country" atmosphere, but it seems that they could clean the place up a little bit outside and upstairs to make it more enjoyable when you want to sit down and enjoy your wine. There isn't much "ambiance".

Was intrigued by Nebraska wine. I really didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised. Cute little tasting room in the country. It was fun to try wine made with grapes grown in Nebraska. The reds were surprisingly good--not like CA or Spain--but really good considering the growing conditions. I thought the St. Pepin white was a lovely summer wine that I would even like with shrimp or fish. Prices were affordable ($8-15). The owner obviously cared about his craft and was very personable. If I'm ever in NE Nebraska again, I'll go back for another visit.
