I've been to this park off and on since I was a child visiting my grandparents in the area. The rides are memorable and very affordable. I loved the carousel growing up in the 90's and my dad loved the twirling swings growing up in the 60's before that when his grandparents used to take him. They have been very well maintained. The concessions are affordable prices and quality for cotton candy, corn dogs and the like. High school kids generally run them and seem to do a fair job each year. They I believe are still cash only! There are three areas with slides and swings etc. The best is the one at the back of the park by the smaller pond. There's great space for picnics and walking throughout including a little forest path by the river. The park offers a small "zoo" with a few basic Midwest animals and a few not so native. Nothing spectacular, but it can be kind of fun to feed them for kids. The baby animals will sometimes even come up to the fence for food and give you a nice little thank you kiss at the right time of year. There is a baseball diamond, several tennis courts, horse shoe pits, frisbee golf course and a basketball court on the grounds for entertainment. A few times each summer they do movie in the park nights on a big screen. Generally a Disney movie, so very family friendly entertainment. Wear bug spray though, it's on the grass. The train museum on the side is open select days and times and has a bit of local history. They used to let you on the train too, hopefully they still do. I loved that as a kid. They have done some clean up and the place is over all very family oriented and a good stop if you're visiting the area and want some fresh air or if you've just moved here and never been.

Cody park in many parks rolled into one. From the Animals that you can watch and feed all year round, to the Large display of Trains and an Real restored Train Depot, that is hands on..to the restored Carousel and small rides there is so much to do. There is also 2 playgrounds, campsites right next to the river with BBQ grills. Throughout the year there are many Free Festivals, Railfest in September is a 3 day Train enthusiast and novice blast. During the Christmas Season the have a wonderful drive thru light and Miniature village with Santa and Free hayrides and to finish the cold night off the have firepits and sell smores kits, hot chocolate and hot apple cider for only 50 cents. This is a Wonderful Park...

Huge well kept park with kids amusement park rides in the spring and summer and a concessions building that serves good food for cheap. Many times during the year the rides are free which is no big deal since you can get 5 tickets for $2.00. Large and small playground areas and good sized hill for sledding down in the winter. Tons of animals to see and feed. Always activities and sports going on year round at this amazing park.

The kids loved feeding the animals and seeing them up close. The zoo component was a bit sparse but the animals that were around were friendly and responsive.

This is a very nice park and all the activities associated with railfest 2014 are headquartered right here! Nice clean facility and well organized. Park is beautiful and would be a very nice place to visit even without railfest!

There isn't much to do in North Platte, but this park was nice and gave my son a place to run around. Watch out for the geese droppings.

This collection is well worth seeing. It is imaginative of the civic authorities to fund it. (I can count to 50 characters, even if the website can't).

We went here to look at the two Union Pacific engines on display but were unsure what condition we would find them in. To our surprise and relief they were in prisitne condition and we were not only able to get up close to them and appreciate their immense size but also board them. In particular, being able to see the Challenger was a unique and special opportunity. There are so few of them left. There is a museum in the attached railroad cars and the depot has some interesting information also.

What an awesome park for a small town, I really do not think there is another small town that has this great if a park. The have a lot of animals to look at and they have a super concession stand and a rides for the kids and the prices are very reasonable. We love this park and take our godchildren there whenever we are in town.

North Platte’s Cody Park offers something for everyone. Interested in camping? Check. Want to take kids to an amusement park? Check. Interested in seeing wildlife? Check. The park offers so much for visitors to take in, that you could spend a weekend at Cody Park without seeing any other part of the city.North Platte’s largest city park offers visitors a look into history with a Wild West memorial, train museum, and sports with softball fields and tennis courts, as well as a swimming pool.Visitors can camp overnight, fish in the lake, and have a barbecue. The amusement park offers three small rides, each aimed at small kids. Check out the concession stand next door for hot dogs, chips and a drink. Or, get an ice cream cone for cheap. I recommend getting a small ice cream cone. Even the small cones are huge!Park visitors are welcomed with the Wild West Memorial at the entrance. The memorial honors Buffalo Bill Cody, who settled in North Platte in the late 1800s. Cody Park was home to the “Old Glory Blowout,” which launched Buffalo’s Bill Wild west show career. The memorial features a bronze statue of Buffalo Bill in the middle of the plaza. The downside to the statue is that it is enclosed in glass and surrounded by bars. This prevents visitors a good view of the statue. However, the rest of the memorial is attractive. The statue is surrounded by 48 state flags; representing each state Buffalo Bill entertained people with his Wild West show. There are also international flags, which mark the countries he took the show to.A plaque recognizes the role Native Americans played with Buffalo Bill’s show. While Native Americans may have been portrayed as enemies during the show, Buffalo Bill ensured visitors got to see the real side of life for natives. A short walk or drive from there is a wildlife viewing area. Visitors can see geese and ducks waddle along. Elk and deer roam the fenced area. A small group of bison are penned nearby. Llamas graze in their own corral.Peacocks roam freely in the area. The park is home to a white peacock. We’d never seen one before, so it caught our attention right away. One thing we thought was humorous was when a gaggle of geese basically ran across the street at dinner time. It’s like an internal clock went off and the geese started scurrying across the street. They ducked (no pun intended) under a gap in the bottom of the fenceline.Tucked deep into the park is the Cody Park railroad museum. It honors the role Union Pacific Railroad has played in the city’s history. The museum features a couple of train engines, a mail car and a caboose. A small depot building is located nearby. The mail car actually has a small exhibit. It features a display on women’s role with the railroad. The engines are open during the day, and you can stand inside them and get a firsthand look at how an engineer may have seen things on the tracks. So, Cody Park offers visitors a plethora of things to do, from camping to museums. When you are in North Platte, please check it out. You will not be disappointed.

The zoo was fun. My toddler loved feeding the geese. The rides are fun for younger kids and ticket prices are reasonable. The concession stand is great. There is also a playground and a train to explore but we didn't go to that. And the pool is there too. You could easily have a day of fun here!

I really like this park. Great for smaller kids and very reasonably priced rides and concessions. Reminds me of a simpler time! More towns should have places like this!
