Worth the extra 2 minutes off the freeway to check it out. One lane covered bridge, you can park and walk out on to it. Pretty cool.

The way was well marked and the bridge easy to find. It's an interesting part of the Sutherlin area.

Would have never seen this lovely piece of history if we had not broken down here. Very nice! The area is beautiful, the bridge in very good shape.

This covered bridge is a registered landmark and worthwhile just a short 2 mi from exit 136 off I-5 in Sutherlin, OR.The bridge was saved by passionate residents from being burned by county workers who were ordered to replace it with a concrete bridge. Locals with guns held vigil over it and it was later restored. The bridge is unique due to the "weepy", rounded windows and well worth the short drive off of the exit. I tried to walk the the bridge to look more closely and examine it a bit, but on a Friday afternoon, it was very, well-traveled by locals and not safe to walk intoSutherlin is also a charming town to stop for fuel, supplies and a meal or as a tranquil, rest-stop between Grants Pass and Portland. At exit 136, take Hwy 138 west for about 2 miles to Stearns Lane, (well marked) and then go a short way to the Rochester Rd turn-off to the left. You'll see the bridge and have to stop to yield to traffic as it's only one lane. .
