Not to be missed. This is an example of what we can do as Americans, together - originally a WPA Project that took four years to complete - you will be amazed at what a spectacular part of the world this is. Many ways to see the falls - North and South to enter - can hike part of all - you will not be disappointed. Visit the lodge and see the furniture that was hand built, too - REMARKABLE - We are already planning our trip back to Silverton to spend more time in this sacred place.

There are different length trails you can hike to see 10 different water falls. There is camping picknicking, swimming, horse and bike trails, as well as wild life viewing. It's open all year around and a short 58 miles from Portland. This is a quite beautiful place to spend the day. Go early so there are less people on the trail and parking.

I have lived in Oregon most of my life and have been to Silver Falls State Park several times. After being gone for 3 yrs (Alaska and Virginia) and wanting taking my wife some place special, I decided to take her to Silver Falls, 10 falls all in one location. A park that started with a program from 1935- 1948 by President Rosevelt, has been and still is one of natures wonders. They have done a great job of maintaining natures natural wonders and still making it assessible to the public. Although most of the park is day use only, you can see at least half the falls either a 4 mile loop or 7 mile loop hike. Or can cross into the other half of the park and see the remaining falls. Which also has camping, or lodges and cabins for rent. Is defiantly worth it. Just getting there you go through several Christmas tree farms, and other farming communities. I must see weather you live in Oregon or are just visiting. $5 per car. Small price to pay for a day of beauty

Where else can someone walk a 6 mile round trip trail and see 10 waterfalls...real waterfalls, not just little water streams coming off a rock. You even get to walk behind one of the big falls. It's an amazing place. For someone who wants to really enjoy this great state park they do rent cabins in the woods there in a conference type area which are nice, comfortable, and cozy, with their own bathrooms. They are not fancy but you're in the woods and enjoying nature, they are much better than a tent! I loved the night I spent there. Note: they don't allow dogs on the trail anymore...bummer. It is worth the visit. They have a nice little gift store for a great locally made souvenir for those interested. I plan to go back and highly recommend the hike. It is easy and a well groomed trail takes you on this loop of falls. Have fun and take lots of pictures. I know I did.

Beautiful park with numerous waterfalls that you walk or hike too. Some are longer than others, most are fairly easy. Some of the trails you can take your dog on, some you can't. Easy to read signs. You will truly enjoy this area!

Love this park. Hiking from one waterfall to the other is of much fun. Our kids enjoyed going behind into the waterfall. We will go there again.

There are 10 beautiful waterfalls in this park! You can hike from either the north or south falls or hike a loop. The north and south falls are very impressive and you can hike behind them. Great place to visit, hike, camp and hang out. The falls, the forest and the hikes are beautiful! There is a large campground and a conference center as well. Definitely a destination to seek out if you spend time in the Portland/Salem area.

my wife and I spent the night at Silver falls camp ground on Veterans day. We stayed in cabin 9. The cabin was small and clean, it had a couch and small table in the 1st room and twin bunk beds and double bed in the other room. The cabin had a small front covered porch and firepit amd picnic table. There is a bathroom and shower that is shared by the other cabins. The campung area is across the highway from the entrance to the south falls but it is an easy 5 minute walk.

Love this place. It is the real meaning of peace and calm. I used to go there every time in a while. You can barbecue there and enjoy seeing the waterfall and you can go behinds it

Growing up a short distance away I have always love to go to Silver Creek Falls. The Park is the perfect place for a picnic with family or a quiet hike with someone special.Be sure you take a jacket or cover-up in case it decides to sprinkle or you walk under the falls and get misted on. I love the easy slope of most trails and I can walk at my own pace.

We were in town for the Silver Falls State Park Half Marathon. I have now run this trail twice, and both occasions, equally beautiful. This Park is so magical. The waterfalls are beyond amazing; they literally will take your breath away. Every turn offers something to see, creeks, waterfalls, beautiful, plush green everywhere you look. If you are a hiker, or trailrunner, there are many trail options to shorten or lengthen the distance and anywhere you go, you will be rewarded with stunning views, friendly park service and plenty to see. One of my favorite places in Oregon.

This Park, and a visit to the nearby Oregon Gardens, was the purpose for our trip to Oregon, besides testing our newly acquired RV (a 1999 re-conditioned Rialta). Weather caused us to arrive earlier than planned, so we stayed one night at the Park and returned 3 days later for another 2 night stay. Given the weather and time of the year, there were only a half dozen campers in the entire park. It is located in a rain forest and it lived up to that description. Putting aside that it rained almost constantly, the park is magnificent! We understand at one time there was a lobbying effort to get it designated a National Park. There are eleven water falls (at least) with a trail that passes by and under them. In addition, miles of other trails that accommodate bikes, or horses, and/or dogs. There is a beautiful day use area with a swimming beach on Silver Creek (really a small river) and a large off leash dog exercise area. The day use area was getting a fair amount of action, despite the rain. I can only imagine what the park is like in the summer! The whole facility is very well maintained--clean, accommodating, and nicely laid out. The bath facilities are large and well designed (you can actually take a shower without getting your change of clothes and shoes wet), and they include soap dispensers and paper towels at the sinks! The bath house is lit and heated all night. And it's free! I must say that Oregon knows how to design and manage campgrounds. Each campsite is nicely placed, most with fair cover for privacy (we recommend 37B), many have water and electric hookups with an easy to access dump site at the day use area. As I already mentioned, very clean and complete bath facilities. Great policies regarding dogs--we could take our leased dogs on nearly all the trails (Oregon in general is very dog friendly--we took our dogs on beaches all along the "People's Coast" too). Compared to our home state of California, the quality and cost of the Oregon Parks cannot be touched and Silver Falls just may be the crown jewel.

Gorgeous waterfalls, great trails. Would go again and again. Beautiful, with easy-to-find trails and viewpoints.

If you are a fan of waterfall, greenery, hiking, photography I would definitely recommend this place. All the elements mentioned above is what makes this place awesome. I visited this place end of OCT and it was beaming with fall colors and that made the experience even better. My wife and I started the hike from North falls trail head, took the canyon trail and visited all the falls all the way till the lower north falls and the drake falls (that's 7 out of 10 waterfalls in the park). Then we took the rim trail back to visit the winter falls (8/10) and to get back to the car. We then drive a very short distance to the south falls trail head and parked there. It was a very short hike to the south falls and then to the lower south falls. That completed visiting all 10 waterfalls. Calling this park a state park is an understatement. :)Make sure you carry a $5 change for day parking.
