We made a point to visit this covered bridge because it is the only red covered one in the area. There isn't a good place to park around it and there are a lot of no trespassing signs on the lawns nearby. There was also a good amount of traffic driving on the bridge while we were there so be careful if you stop and want to walk around and take photos and enjoy the beauty of the area. It was our favorite covered bridge that we visited in Oregon.

This is only 1 of 5 covered bridges in the Scio zip code. Its been in a few movies over the years. It is kind of unique as its a red bridge all others that i have seen anywhere are white.

I took pictures of the bridge while my wife went to the little gift shop just to the north (not connected to the bridge it just happens to be close). Lots of funky, arty stuff that you don't find in regular tourist shops. The bridge was my favourite (I visited 8 covered bridges in Oregon).

We drove through the area viewing covered bridges. Houses were constructed over the timber trusses of the bridges to protect them from the damp western Oregon climate. Shimanek Bridge is one of 50 covered bridges in Oregon open to vehicular traffic and was built in 1966. The red 130 foot bridge features a Howe truss design and spans Thomas Creek in Linn County, Oregon. It has louvered windows and a white interior. It is the 5th covered bridge to occupy this site. We did not stop at this attraction.
