Husband and I and another couple spent a few days in eastern Oregon, and we went to the Eastern Oregon Museum, in Haines, just about an hour north of Baker City. You have to check the map quick, or you'll miss the turn for Haines--there's no sign for the museum till you actually get into town--but this little gem of a place is worth the effort to get there.A donation gets you in, and once there, you are bombarded with The Past. All of the items are housed in what was once a school gym, so it's one huge room. There are items from logging and mining, ranching, cowboys, housewares, clothing, toys (4-5 display cases of dolls alone!), one corner is set up like an old school room, linens, clocks, bells, WW1 and WW2, and Korea, you name it, they probably have it. There is a wing of the museum adjacent that houses carriages, etc.We spent about an hour in there, loved every minute of it. The volunteer on duty was very friendly and helpful.
