Grotto Falls are a one of the more well known waterfalls in the Umpqua area. The falls plunge 80 feet in two segments over a deeply undercut cliff within a dark recess which gives them their name. The short 0.5 km (0.3 mi) trail goes all the way behind the falls and it is amazing to see the water curtain fall in front of you and its roar echo in the caves behind you. We did this with our daughters (ages 6, 8 and 11) and everybody really enjoyed it and found it an easy hike.
