The map of the covered bridge tour (self guided) made this an easy jaunt. We drove, took pictures and wandered a bit. There are 8 bridges. There are places to pull of the road safely to walk the bridges and take photos. The Swinging Bridge was really fun!

we live about 45 minutes from cottage grove, so we spent a lovely saturday afternoon getting to cottage grove and driving to the bridges in a leisurely way. let me just say it isnt spectacular- especially to us locals who live in such a truly beautiful place! its not a destination in itself if you are from out of town. but if you enjoy scenic drives, country roads, and just checking out something new, this is a really nice option!of the 3 websites we viewed for info on bridges, they all had very wonky and incomplete directions! thankfully, between the scenic attraction roadsigns and our gps (which only worked part of the time...) we found all 6 plus the 'swinging' bridge. MY ADVICE: map the route at home first!we were able to drive across 2 (one of which was still undergoing a facelift) and walk across the rest. great photo ops. too early on oct 3 to see much fall foliage. might have to go again in a couple of weeks!MORE ADVICE: use the potty beforehand... facilities are scarce. there are outhouses at the dorena bridge (the farthest one out) but they were incredibly disgusting!!

The covered bridges of Cottage Grove, Oregon, were a bonus to our 2 night say. We planned a vineyard hopping weekend, and then saw a brochure at our hotel about the covered bridges. Since most of the wineries don't open for tasting until noon, we decided to check out the bridges. The only one you can drive through is the Mosby Creek bridge, which as of September 23 is still being repaired and is unpassable. My favorite was the Currin Bridge built in 1925. The covered railroad bridge was interesting too.

We discovered the covered bridges of Cottage Grove initially from the AAA Guidebook. We then stopped in at the Oregon Information Center in Eugene. Ultimately we back-tracked to Cottage Grove and toured 7 bridges. In addition to covered bridges, one was a swing bridge. Most were not in use anymore and a couple were being restore. If you love covered bridges or engineering this stop is not to be missed.

This was a fabulous 1 to 2 hour scenic tour of 6 historic covered bridges in Cottage Grove, OR. All of the bridges appear to have been recently renovated with the exception of the Mosby Creek Bridge which is currently under repair. The Mosby bridge is on Lang Road a few hundred yards north of Mosby Creek Road and Lang Road is fully closed to all traffic at the bridge until Sept 15th, 2014. There are scenic tour signs all along the route which will get you to all of the covered bridges. The Chambers Railroad bridge was the most impressive and the only one with in-depth history signs all about the era of these covered bridges. We didn't even know about these covered bridges when we booked a hotel in Cottage Grove and we were thrilled about them. We even looked for all six plus a swinging foot bridge. We love the town too. The whole place is just adorable. You have to go and visit!

A short drive south of Eugene brings you to historic Cottage Grove. The main attraction is a collection of covered bridges..most of which have been restored. The historic downtown is full of murals painted on walls of the buildings that tell the history of the area. There are a few eateries and a nice quilt shop but not a whole lot else. We read about the covered bridges in a magazine and were interested in seeing a piece of history first hand. This was a very picturesque experience with the fantastic fall colours in October. The tour is as long as you want it to be if you only want to see a few bridges or more. We drove to a couple of the further bridges and enjoyed the beautiful countryside. The little town has some funky old neon signs and neat little shops.

Oregon State has an amazing number of covered bridges, 56 in all. A number that used to be around 450. This fall while driving through the area I made attempts to see several of them and have to say that Cottage Grove had some of the best to see as well as a great town to stop in. The main street area still holds several buildings from the 20th century, over a 100 years old. Similar to Toppenish, WA several of the local buildings have various paintings on the side of them which tells their own stories. Restaurants are several, lodging is available and a visit to the Chamber is worth the stop. If you plan to go anywhere else for more bridges do your research. As high marks go to Cottage Grove several of the other areas in the state are not marked so well and finding them a bit of a struggle at times. www.cgchamber.com

The instructions were easy to follow and made for a nice drive in the afternoon. It was great to get away from the I 5 and just suck up the local scenery. Fall colours were out in full force.

Okay if you are 70 or regularly use the words "charming", "quant" or "the cats meow" then you might enjoy the bridge tour. However put on a fresh Depends because the tour is so long and boring you're sure to cut one lose. The tour is nearly brain dead and you didn't slave all year accumulating time off to waste it in Cottage Grove. Pull off, get some gas and maybe some fast food then haul booty outta there because its spread out throughout the entire county. Asked a long time resident about the your and he had never wasted his time to go see them! Run hard, run fast but get outta there as fast as you can!!!! GTFO Done Deal!

This is definitely a Kodak moment! My favorite time to go is in the fall when the colors are absolutely spectacular. The Mosby Creek bridge on Layng Rd.is still drivable and makes for a fun road trip. The Chambers Railroad bridge was recently rebuilt and a has high pitched whistle inside to prevent birds from nesting. (Apparently adults cannot detect the pitch but teenagers can hear it.)

We did this route by car and three of the bridges during a Thanksgiving road trip through Southern Oregon. They are absolutely charming and worth a stop if you are in the area. We saw three of the bridges: Currin, Dorena and Mosby Creek. You can actually drive across the last one, even if only to a parking area on the other side. It was cloudy and rainy when we visited, so we weren't able to fully enjoy Lake Dorena.

Great way to spend a day with our three teenagers. Very flat ride through beautiful bridges and trees. Bonus is a wonderful lake to have a picnic.

We drove the route and even though it was raining most of the time, we enjoyed seeing the historic bridges. We combined this trip with a visit to Eugene and the 5th Street Market, where we had a yummy late lunch at Marche.
