One of my favorite family activities is hiking. We have spent the last several summers at national parks. We have been to this place because it is a nice day excursion outside of Okc. We enjoy going here. Nice views, but nothing will blow you away. Multiple different hiking trails of different length, so there is something for everyone.

Cara surprised me and booked a cabin at Roman Nose, and she got the handicapped cabin! We love Roman Nose, we came for New Years also and participated in the First Day Hike and it was awesome, (cold) but awesome! Cara and I arrived around 10 pm and the gentleman at the front desk was nice as could be and made sure we didn't need anything, we know our way around the park so we went straight to the cabin (pioneer cabin). We had never stayed in this one and we were very impressed, it was nice and very roomy! It was fully handicap accessible, the kitchen, the bathroom, bedroom, and living area. The pioneer is also a newly remodeled cabin and we feel like they did a great job! The views from this cabin are unbeatable, you can see the lake and the lodge! The restaurant is currently closed for renovation but should be open soon. We can't wait to go back!!!

We have stayed in the nice lodge and on another visit, camped in one of the teepees. There's SO much to do here: canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, swimming, fishing and golf. During our Fall Break, we came here and there was a fun hayride too. It's a state park, so I don't expect 5 star fancy.....I just want things clean and in working order. This park met my expectations, though the showers by the teepee camping area are a bit 'rustic' for my taste (but, hey....it's camping. If you want fancy bathrooms, stay in the lodge.) I love coming here.

Gorgeous Lodge, great food, and beautiful views. My 12 year old son and I went "exploring" for an overnight getaway to Roman Nose State Park. The pool was closed for the summer, but we cannot wait to go back next year to enjoy that gorgeous pool. We had a great time following the creek and natural springs and climbing in the canyon next to the lodge. The General Store was nice and the lady working was very accommodating. We played miniature golf and rode the paddle boats.Having dinner on the outside patio as the sun set was very relaxing and enjoyable. Love this place.

We went on October 4, 2014 at 11:30 am. Ariana puts you with a horse she thinks will fit your size, skill, etc. Eight year old (going on 9) daughter with no experience had a ball. Her horse did everything asked of it. Horses are well cared for and groomed.Couple of notes: They don't ride when temperatures exceed 90 degrees. No double riders. 250 pound weight limit. $50 for two hours and $30 for one. If you seldom ride, one hour should be enough. If paying by credit card, you need to pay at the general store in the park.

My first dining experience in this lodge was in 1968. This restaurant has been here long enough to deserve a spot on the restaurant category but TripAdvisor could not locate it so I must review the park to review the restaurant. Mary and I ate lunch there today. The overall rating was a four but since there are no categories on this review for meals I will just describe our dining experience. The lodge has a nice fireplace, ample room and outdoor seating with a view of the lake. A very pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The menu was very affordable and the service was excellent. My Reuben sandwich came with fries, chips or salad. I chose fries which is unusual for me. I don't generally like french fries because it is so easy to make them taste terrible. These were crispy and tasty and was Mary's favorite part of her meal. My Reuben was large and good. Mary had an onion burger which she rated a three. It needed a bit more spice. Both meals plus my coffee was $22.00 which is about par for America these days but maybe a bit low for lodge prices. Facilities that cater to the exceptional patron usually charge more simply because they can. $12.00 for a steak here is very fair, I think. I really expected to spend about $30.00 so I was pleased with the prices on the menu. I'm a coffee freak who likes strong bold coffee that is normally unavailable in most restaurants. So I usually bring my own and so I did today. I noticed on the menu two choices of hot coffee. One was a French press for $4.00 and the other was RN#5 for $1.99. I asked Brittney, our waitress, about the unusual description of a cup of coffee. She said RN stood for Roman Nose. The lodge has their coffee beans roasted especially for them. She did not know the meaning of the number 5 but I assume it had something to do with strength, probably a number separating a medium roast from dark. She said locals like the coffee well enough to drive to the lodge just to converse over coffee. A nice compliment since the lodge is a 7 mile drive from the nearest town. So I tried a cup of RN#5 and it was good. Not strong enough for my taste by any means but the flavor was good enough for me to have two refills. Business will bring me here again for a couple of meetings so next time I will leave my brew at home and maybe try the French press. And maybe by the time I can add a second review, this restaurant will have earned a search spot in the restaurant category. This restaurant is appropriate for any occasion and we recommend it to everyone.

We had a lot of fun at Roman Nose State Park. Pros: We went on a horse back ride and had a great time. Very professional and friendly guide. The restaurant had pretty good and we had fun hiking and exploring the grounds. Cons: Canoeing and lodge (see below for details)Canoeing- after renting the canoes for an hour, we found out that we were expected to carry (not drag) the canoes to the water ourselves without any help from the staff. They were very heavy and we had a lot of trouble getting them to and from the water. They were also not stable once in the water. Lodge- We rented the 4 person lodge for one night. We arrived at 10PM and had trouble finding the check in facility in the dark since the streets were not lit. The lodge was fairly nice except for the large number of bugs, which is kinda expected in the wilderness. The description was misleading. It advertised a queen size bed and queen size sleeper sofa. Both were full size and it was a tight fit for 4 adults. Also it was a futon, not a sleeper sofa. Upon arrival, there was no toilet paper, towels, sheets for the futon, soap, or shampoo. They were friendly about providing these amenities but required us to go pick then up instead of delivering them. They were apologetic about it the next morning. All in all it was pretty nice, the biggest problem was the falsely advertised queen sized beds.

A friend and I took our granddaughters there to Horseback ride. Took a two hour ride and it was great. They are so good at matching up horses with people. We had a great time.

Very nice park with some great trails. An amazing oasis in the middle of Oklahoma. Looks like great camping, a nice golf course and a lot more. Can't wait to get back there in August.

was having a good time until the lake ranger began harrassing everyone in the camp ground finally causing us to have to leave in fear of getting a ticket for no reason. This Ranger needs to be relieved of duty. He is disrespectful and angry before even finding anything wrong with what you may be doing please, please get rid of the ranger that abuses his power.Eric Burke405-657-4880

We deliberately turned off the highway to get to this park and just check it out. The highway signage was poor. Nice park with some good views. The visitor center/park office building had very good toilet facilities. We had read about a restaurant and planned to eat there, but it was not in operation the Sunday we stopped in. If we had more time, would have loved to try the paddle boats.

What a nice area just about an hour from Oklahoma City. Plenty of camping spots, hiking trails, pedal boats, lodge and Restaurant too. There are 2 lakes for but just for small boats. They rent out TeePees for $25 a night and I'm sure there is a waiting list. They have concrete floors and electricity.

There are natural springs, teepees, a beautiful old picnic shelter, trails for hiking, lakes for fishing and paddle boating but not swimming. There is a swimming pool. You can stay in the lodge or cabins, or camp out in the teepees or your own tent or rv. It's a good place for picnics and exploring. It's a good place to get away and relax.

I and my two children, ages 9 and 11 were thrilled with our trail riding experience at Roman Nose State Park. We had reservations for a 1 hour trail ride, and began our ride at 9:30 a.m. Our wrangler, Ariana, had the horses saddled and ready to go The horses are beautiful and well behaved. Our ride took us through all kinds of terrain, from rocky cliffs, to wooded, shady areas. Ariana was patient and answered all my kids questions as we rode, filling them in on the history o of the area, and information about the wildlife that can be seen. If I had one thing to do over, it would be to take the 2 hour ride instead of the 1 hour....we will be back. Soon, a chuckwagon dinner with riding before and after the meal will be available. My kids and I can't wait!

their website and the travel oklahoma website states that roman nose has a restaurant, gives its hours-mon-sun., even has a menu.we got their around 5.we did not stop to eat on the way in, because we thought the restaurant would be open. i asked, upon check in, what time the restaurant opened for dinner. i was informed that it is not open until thursday! we had to go into the town of watonga to find someplace to eat. while it is a charming small town, we ate at the sonic. there isn't much to choose from we saw an elderly couple, who got their even later than we did, leaving to go into town, after dark. i felt bad for them.our room was at the very end of a very long hall. the girl at the desk said our room number was 110, but there isn't a number on the door, but says "cool springs suite'. why even mention a number? we were tired, it was a long hall, so we went back and asked for clarifcation, because the numbers start at, like, 115 and went up. it confused us. the girl at the desk, rather rudely, said, " i said it is at the end of the hall, on the right".she finally got up and showed us, because there weren't very many guests.we had to go find a place to eat breakfast, the next morning. that evening, we went to watonga and got some frozen dinners. there is no microwave, in the room, so we used the one in the dining room, in the breakfast area. it was filthy, but we had to use it. we ate in the dining room. there was a girl, dressed like a chef. i told her we were going to use the microwave, because the restaurant wasn't open. she said," well, we were told there would be 12-15 of you for dinner, and now we were told there are only 4". i told her we weren't with a group, just guests. she said " oh" and walked off.we got the cool springs suite because it was supposed to have a view of the lake.didn't too many trees.the room itself is nice .the bed was comfy. it was quiet.i guess the lake and golf course qualify it as a resort, as the sign says. if you go looking for a resort, it is not that. the signage is confusing. we couldn't find the ccc built structure, the public pool was under construction. the lodge has a seperate pool.i would skip this place.
