Sauders Village is wonderful place to come and spend a day or two. It is even better if you can come when they are having one of their special programs. As we have come on several different times over the past 5 years We have enjoyed we have enjoyed seeing the Fiddling Contest, the Barbershop Quartet,Quilt Show,Old time Car show and the Woodcarving Show. It is best to plan to spend the whole day there if you can, as there is lots to see and do. We never want to miss a shop where you can see how things are made, such as the tin shop, or the blacksmith,or broom shop. I especially enjoy going to watch the glass blower and the potter. We have taken our grandkids ages infant to teens and there is something they have all enjoyed as there is much hands on for all ages. even though we have been there many times now, we never get tired of it as they keep adding new things to see and do and enjoy. I have found that it is best to go when it is not on the hottest day of summer as there is some walking, but many places to sit a spell too. There is no need to climb stairs, so eletric scooter, wheelchairs and strollers work well here.

Not only have I visited Sauder Village but I had the wonderful opportunity to intern here. This is an incredible place to spend an afternoon, or more! I have enjoyed all my interactions at Sauder Village. The professionalism and attention to detail is excellent. An amazing experience for all ages. The Village offers a unique opportunity to step into and experience history first hand. They offer wonderful food and a great spot to get away from it all. Be sure to check out the Barn restaurant, the bakery and/or the hotel! Could go on for days...I love Sauder Village!

I (34 yrs old) took my niece (11 yrs old), nephew (6 yrs old), and grandma (85 yrs old) here and all of us had a great time. The kids were intrigued by some of the historic aspects which was nice-it brings life to what they learn in their textbooks at school. My grandma enjoyed a trip down memory lane as some things, especially the schoolhouse, reminded her of her childhood. I liked everything and learning about things were made and in some cases are still made today. There are some cute gifts in the shops and we bought some of the handmade wooden toys which can entertain for hours. We ate ice cream in the parlor which was good. I mistakenly thought we could get a good visit in within a 2 hr time frame and I was wrong-live and learn. Next time we will definitely plan to spend the whole day there-there is definitely enough to see and do in a day.

We picked one of the most perfect fall days to visit Sauder Village. We went to places we had never visited and spent almost 4 hours enjoying all the houses and train rides, and animals. And we still did not see everything! It wasn't crowded and it was a wonderful way to spend the day.

We visited Sauder Village with my cousin, who was visiting from out of state, and my elementary school aged son. It was very interesting to see the buildings in the village as they would have existed over a hundred years ago. The only crack in that facade was the modern cash registers and sale of modern souvenirs. The museum was interesting. We took our own picnic along.

We went there to see up to 40 historic buildings that make the village. Be sure to pick-up the Guide in the Welcome center. The buildings are numbered 1 to 40. You do not have to go in order. Building # 14 was where the museum was located, showed the history of Northwest Ohio. Other buildings to hear stories from the costumed guides: Erie's Farm shop, Sauder cabinet shop (hence the name Sauder cabinets), basket shop, barber shop, spinning shop, how it looked in the 1800s, belonged to real people, very historical....candy, fudge, train ride, horse-carriage ride....this is Ohio's and reminds me a little of Green Field Village (yes, a Michigander living temporarily in Perrysburg for more than a year) but distinctive differences...but rural/historical to Northwest Ohio...my co-workers said this was a good place to see and they are right...We chose to visit since my birthday was this same weekend)...I did not try the fudge but if you do, you can compare it to Mackinaw's...

We went to Sauder Village on Aug. 24. My husband and I had a wonderful time there. They have replicas of artisan shops from days gone by. Most of them had wonderful stories to tell and lots of unknown facts to share. They do a wonderful job of telling these on the child's level and have many hands on items that will help to hold their interest. My favorite was the barber shop. The gentleman that told the story of the shop although well rehearsed was quite informative. They had a train and horse drawn buggy to ride for an extra $2.00 fee each. Replica of a farm house where we got to churn cream into butter, and watch home made noodles being made. The entry fee was reasonable, the only down fall was that we went on a Sunday and they are only open from 12 to 4. This was not really enough time to listen to all the stories and tour the rest of the village I would recommend going on another day. I would recommend this for any one of any age.

Outstanding experience! What a wonderful way to tell the history of Northwest Ohio. They did a wonderful job of preserving old historical buildings. Each building has a story and there is someone there to tell it. On top of that, there are wonderful programs for the children. The value is outstanding and they go out of their way to offer you discounts. This is well worth the trip.

What a great way to learn the history of northwest Ohio. This should be a must for children of northwest Ohio. It was great to talk to the costumed guides. They made history come alive and are very knowledgeable. The guides are always open to questions from the young and old.

This is a good place to visit to learn the history of our area. We took our grandson here and what a pleasant experience. All of the people here give informative information, are friendly and very patient when needed with the children. Check their website for dates that allow interactive events for the children. Letting children experience how life was in the days gone past can be pretty cool. The ice cream parlor is yummy. Going into the bakery makes you want one of everything and they are so friendly and helpful. The Barn was a bit of a disappointment though. It was between buffets (switching from lunch to dinner) and we waited a long time for our food although when we received it everything was good except the noodles - dry - they forgot to put butter sauce (or whatever they use) on the dish. Service was slow and the waitress blamed the kitchen but we didn't buy it. We never got water refills and she passed our table multiple times. I had to stop her and ask for it. Same for iced tea. But we will go back to Sauders - in fact we like it so much and want to support the facility so we became members. Thank you to the Sauder family for making this available to everyone. Oh and AAA discount is available. One more thing - at the back door of the museum, I noticed people in wheelchairs or walkers having a difficult time maneuvering thru the doors.

So much to see! There is so much history represented here and everyone is so fun to talk with! You can tell they love their jobs! If you enjoy learning about the past you will love this place! Lots to see in the museum too!

Save the day for your visit to Sauder Village as there are so many things to see and do. There are costumed guides in the farms, gardens and shops. They explain what life was like in the time periods of 1803-1910. There are beautiful old barns, animals and native American housing. For a nominal fee there is a train ride for the whole family. The train takes you around the whole property. There is one stop in the back where you can get off and on. There is a nice restaurant in the Welcome Center, and the prices are good. The gift shop has items that have been made in the Village as well as other nice items.Outside the Village is the Doughbox Bakery, and the Barn Restaurant. There is also the Sauder Outlet Store. The lodge is beautiful and even if you are not staying there, it is fun to look around the building. It is beautiful. My husband and I stayed in the campgrounds directly behind the Village. The grounds are nice with clean restrooms and showers and a bike path going through a corn field approximately a half mile each way. This was one of the nice campgrounds that we have stayed at.

Sauder Farm and Craft Village is a great one day trip for any age. Many different "stops" throughout the village. There is a person dressed in character of the environment at every stop to explain what everything was used for and answer questions. There is something for every age range. Hands on experiences, little train ride ( for an extra fee, but you can ride all day) and horse drawn carriage rides for an extra fee. The shops on the grounds are very nice along with The Barn Restaurant. They had a great home style buffet. Also on the grounds is a small campground and resort.
