Accidentaly we stumbled upon this bridge while doing some research of our roadtrip to New England and Canada. As we were driving from Ben & Jerrys in Waterbury to Boston, MA, we made a detour to see this bridge. We've read that covered bridge is something very typical for New England and we just couldn't leave without seeing one of those. This is a mgnificent covered bridge showing a lot of history. I just love that it's still in use and it is a place telling lots of stories. Just nearby the eastern opening of the bridge there is a short information telling tre story of the bridge!

Rode across the bridge a couple of times to get the full experience. Two way traffic inside the bridge is quite manageable and seems to withstand the daily load. Only understood more recently that covered bridges are covered not for the benefit of the travelers but to protect the wood contraction from the rain water which will rot it. This bridge is the loges wooden bridge in the United States.

You encounter this bridge suddenly as you travel along the country road and are blown away by the simple beauty of its construction. It takes you right into the past as you drive over the wooden floorboards.

A "gem" to visit during our September visit to Vermont. Among all of the bridges we visited, this was our one of our favorites! The bridge is easy to get to from the center of town. Ample parking area on the eastern side of the bridge. There are numerous photo ops of the bridge. Stop by the Windsor Diner for lunch after your visit.

It's just a few minutes from Harpoon, worth a quick bounce over. The bridge is the longest 2-lane covered bridge in the world. The bridge spans the Connecticut river, and if you are in the area in Vermont or New Hampshire, you gotta drive over it. It's free, and cool. The sign over the bridge notes, Walk your horse or pay a $2 fine. It's a nice bit of Americana, go see and imagine all the history this bridge has seen.

Stopped here for a photo opportunity in a delightful setting on the edge of town. This is, I believe, the longest two lane wooden covered bridge in the world and is well worth a visit. There is parking close at hand so you can safely stop for pictures The structure is an interesting for its engineering as well as its history and well worth seeking out of you are in the area.

A very old wooden covered bridge over 400 feet long (2 spans) and it carries two lanes of traffic. Wow! Impressive. I wish there was a display somewhere on how they built it.

Cross the Connecticut River from New Hampshire to Vermont (or vice versa) over this long covered bridge. Definitely worth the drive if you are in the area and looking for those quaint things from a bygone era.

Perfect condition....a bit of history right here in our time. The longest covered bridge. You can still drive over it, takes you from Windsor VT to Cornish NH.

I'm no Art Garfunkle but I do know a good bridge when I see it. My kids are grown up now . I wish that I took them to ride through this bridge when they were kids, they would have loved it.

A lovely drive across the river. Several places before and after the bridge to take photos. Wish there had been a placard before going across the bridge to tell the bridge's significance. Glad we saw the bridge.

We visit the bridge every time we are in the area. I am in awe of the fact that it is still being used ...and the condition it is in. Beautiful specimen...

We drove over the bridge and took pictures from the New Hampshire side. Georgeous setting on the river.

Visited the Harpoon Brewery and accidently ran across this bridge. There is a cool paking spot on the NH side and the view is nice of the covered bridge to drive across.

Good to see if you just happen to drive by. The experience and view were nice, but not much else to see. My boyfriend and I crossed over the bridge, stopped at the little parking lot, took a picture and then went on our merry way. A nice piece of Vermont but not a must-see.
