Quick your. Not much to see. The house is quaint and small. The area is beautiful. This would take you about 20 minutes to see.

Thsi historic land mark place must be the reason Coral Gables is called The City Beautiful in Miami FL.--Every time I visit this place I become like if I lived there in the past.....which I'd like to be.--The grotto behind the house made from real coral stone will make you fall in love again....so take your love one with you when you visit the site.--Say hello to Althea statue located in front of the house !

My wife and I were luck to stumble to the Merrick home on a day when they had an event for the community. We got there just before closing and we were allowed to tour the home. We were very happy to get our timing just right. Otherwise, the house is only open a few days per week. The home dates back the nascent time of Coral Gables when the founding fathers first arrived to begin settling and developing the area.

We have tried several occasions to visit this site and finally we were able to hit it right and have someone available to give us the tour. Well worth the wait!

We came for an event that included cooking classes, ice cream truck and a gardener showing from how to grow herbs but making your landscape better. But what we really enjoyed was the tour of the Merrick house because we did not know the history of Coral Gables and how his vision developed the gables. I would encourage everyone to attend an event there.

This is a great historic site but they are rarely actually there. I went several times when they were supposed to be open, but the site was actually closed. I picked July 2012, as the date I visited, but this actually happened more than once.

If you like history and learning alittle about the cities you visit then this is a must. The house is only open Wednesday & Sundays, tours are 1:00- 4:00 PM promptly on the hour. Seniors, military, and students are $3, everyone else, $5, which covered the tour of the home. The tours are given by volunteers, ours was Juan and he was excellent. The tour was layed back and unhurried, plenty of time for stories of Coral Gables history, questions were received and answered with true interest. After the tour we were able to walk about the gardens and through the groto on our own- again no one hurried you through, which is great for me as I love picking up new gardening ideas to attempt at home. Beautiful home, hugely informative and friendly tour, this is a definate "gotta do"!

I really enjoyed my tour of the Merrick house. The hours are very limited, but it is worth a visit. The house is small so it does not take long to see, but it is an interesting part of the history of the area.It is only a block away from the venetian pools, so it is easy to stop at the Merrick House on the way there.
