The railroad museum itself is reason enough to visit Winter Garden; the shops are also quite varied and last Christmas we went to the cinema there to see Alister Sims's Christmas Carol--my wife's favorite version (I prefer George C. Scott's) but Sims does an amazing job as Scrooge.

I was recently in Winter Garden, Florida to visit my brother in law. He has lived in Winter Garden for over ten years, and like most folks who live in an awesome place sometimes they just don't take the time to experience all that us traveling folks can to do. So was the case with this incredible piece of history. We happen to go in as Mr. David Rhea was giving his informative and yet lively description of the railroad history in central Florida. I was shocked when he told us he had only been doing this lecture for only five months. He knew so much of the history, but also told it in a way that you wanted to hear more and more.....I learned so much and got experience first hand what it must have been like to live back in Winter Garden over a hundred years ago and to have taken train rides on this awesome railroad.Admission was free, and I believe the museum is only open from 1 pm to 5 pm daily. So if you are in the lovely town of Winter Garden in the historic section you must stop by to see the small but incredible piece of history.

A wonderful collection of RR memorabilia. Fun scavenger hunt for children. And be sure and see the cards available for purchase at the entry.

Wow! What a great surprise. A train museum in an old train station. I am amazed at how much train memorabilia they squeezed into a small building. They also have a caboose in the back that you can explore. The volunteers are super friendly and informative. Admission is FREE and so is parking. Donations are appreciated. Hours are 1pm-5pm daily. If you are a train enthusiast, this stop is a must!

The volunteers at the museum were the best! The little place was so full of railroad memorabilia and collectibles; it was so fun.

We needed to kill some time since we had to check out of our room early, but had a rather late flight home. Our GPS had this in the Points of Interest or some section, so we decided to check it out. What a great way to spend some time! Not a very big place, but they had so many neat things and the staff was wonderful! Probably one of our favorite finds on the trip!

I'm not overly fond of trains, so I didn't enjoy the museum so much, but railroad enthusiasts will love it. It really has everything Central Florida train related, so if you like trains, you can spend hours in here. For me, it was dull, but my family enjoyed it.

If your a railway buff like me you will love this place, it's small with hundreds of exhibits crammed in to every nook & cranny.Only open during certain hours of the day so check before you visit.

I'm giving the Railroad Museum only a 3 because we were in and out in about 45 minutes. But if you do most of what we did it's worth a 5. Park for free in paved lot across the street. (Then walk to several other museums nearby without moving your vehicle.) If you like railroad 'stuff' then you should do fine in here. If you are into Winter Garden history then you will love it. They sell railroad magnets but don't have room for all their hoard - so ask and someone will bring the rest out. Downtown is just 1/2 block to the north so spend 2-3 hours here. Wife found and bought a nice hat. Other two museums are the Art Museum (next door to the south) and History Museum (1/2 block north on the main street. Look for the caboose). Several outdoor and indoor places to eat. About 1 mile due north on Main St is the city park on the lake. Paved walking trails and public rest rooms are there. Free parking and if you fish and have a license, go fish! AND FWIW the city has a scavanger hunt project. At any of 12 local businesses you get a 'passport.' Then follow clues to find something in or outside of each business. When you find it, open a box there and stamp your passport. This History Museum is one of the places so get your passport here and go exploring. And if you miss your bike back home, there are several places to rent one - or several - for a few hours. LOTs of people riding bikes in the area and having fun. Dogs welcome downtown if you clean up the mess. Dogs and smoking allowed in the outdoor eating areas. Winter Garden is a nice little place to visit. About a 45 minute drive north of Disney part of Orlando. (Several other small towns have 'Winter' in their names. Go to the correct one!!!)

We enjoyed the small train set they had for children to play with. It's never fun to keep telling your kid "don't touch that, don't lean on the glass". The morse code machine was really a nice touch. The gentleman that was there that afternoon wasn't in a good humor, or didn't like people, or something. Upon our arrival he didn't greet us and was rather agitated when we asked for clarification on the price of a souvenir my son wanted to buy. I would go back just to play with the morse code again.

Nós apreciamos o pequeno conjunto de trem que tinha para as crianças para brincar com ele. Nunca é divertido para manter o seu filho dizendo "não toque em que, não se encoste no vidro". A máquina de código morse foi realmente um toque agradável.
