And smoke everywhere else! Do not go if you are expecting anything other than a pool hall that serves beer and liquor. No wine available and everyone there including the bartender smokes heavily.......does not serve any food at all.

I had to come here after hearing all the hype from the John Grisham book and the big festival on Thanksgiving morning and Dancing in the Streets!! It is an old time bar, dark, with twenty-five cent pool tables and just what you picture of an old time saloon. Beware of lots of stale cigarette smoke though...........no children allowed!

We stayed at One Ocean last week. This bar was right across the parking lot so we started there first. Wow, glad we stopped by. It's a great bar filled with friendly locals. If I lived in the area, I would go there nightly. We went there the next day too, on Friday night. It was crowded and even got to meet the owner. Had a great visit with him about alligator hunting. It doesn't look like much on the outside but it is a hidden gem. I highly recommend stopping in for a visit.

this is a historic staple complete with pool tables ping pong juke box and cash only bar and tons of smoke - but thats part of its allureyou can find random people dressed in beach attire, dresses, food service staff after work and even a StantaIf you dont like smoke or locals in flip flops and shorts then this isnt the place for you

Smoky, smelly and kind of interesting. Free pool and other table games. But this place is old and hasn't had a face lift in forever. Mostly friendly service and inexpensive drinks.

This place is an icon! Family owned, visited by Ernest Hemingway and still just a laid back bar. Cash only, pool tables, fooz ball and ping pong. All walks of life will be found mingling together having a great time. Bartenders are great! Hate the Smoke but love this Bar!

If you like "dive bars", then you'll like Pete's. It's been around for over 80 years and inside, you can tell. But that's part of the allure. The bartenders were attentive, the regulars were friendly and inclusive, and the prices were very reasonable. If you play pool, this is THE place for you as it's only a quarter a game. Yep, that's right, 25 cents. There are numerous pool tables (especially after 6:00 PM when the other side opens), there is even a ping pong table and a bumper pool table. The only two drawbacks. One is it's a "cash only" bar. There is an ATM in the bar, but this is a drawback to some. Also, they allow smoking. If you can deal with these two minor peeves, check out Pete's.

I am not into pool but my friend was so needless to say I did not play but I did enjoy watching, so if you like to play pool or just enjoy watching then this is the place for you

Had a great time at Pete's bar. Bartender James was awesome, very attentive and almost protective. After learning that we were visiting from Boston he kept an eye on us, coming over after a few less than desirable folks approaches us making sure we were OK. Drinks were good, prices were great. Fun atmosphere, lots of pool tables, ping pong tables, video games available. Music playing, lots of old memorabilia on the walls. Staff proud of this establishment, boasting that it was one of the first bars to open after prohibition. James keep up the good work!!!

I am a visitor to Jacksonville Bearh a couple times a year. Went for a beach walk up to Neptune Beach and decided that any bar opened since the 30's has to be visited. 5 1/2 hours later, Knob Creek and two cigars I made this the place to go to to relax after a hard day of work. Great friendly people, super service and just great place to meet real down to earth people.

I asked the bar tender of the Tiki Bar at the Hampton Beach Front where is a good place to play pool in Jacksonville and she suggested I go to Pete's Bar. That was EXCELLENT advice as it turned out. Pete's Bar, I was told, has the oldest liquor license in the Jacksonville area. It has 25 cent pool tables, a ping pong table ( a new ping pong ball cost 25 cents) and there seems to always be great competition on the tables and very nice people to socialize with.Of course if you are not into the typical pool bar where everyone is letting their hair down and having a good time it may be just another dive bar to you, but it was definitely what I was looking for and I had a great time there.

Dark, smoky and no credit cards, thank you. Grab a bottle of Bud and shoot some pool. Fantastic digital jukebox.

Pete's is a time capsule you can have a drink in. This place has been a haunt of several generations of my family, including mine. I dont believe much has changed in the decor since the old days. Seems like the dust keeps getting thicker on the War relics on the wall. If your a smoker, wont find much attitude here, ashtrays in mass at the bars. Some of the finest people who have sucked air frequent this bar, no trouble here, check your stress at the door and relax for awhile. "If it ain't broke, dont fix it", I wouldn't change a thing.
