We had a great time there. The docent was super nice. We really enjoyed the quaintness of the town. Highly recommend it.

The courthouse is no doubt the crown jewel of the town, a beautiful building in the centre of the square. The building now houses the county museum exhibiting displays of ancient periods and more modern settlement history. Upstairs is the old court room that has been returned to as close to the original as possible from it's construction in 1913. The courtroom was used in an Elvis Presley film in the '60s. The best part was the warm welcome we received from staff and volunteers. They were genuinely interested in their history, and as us as visitors. Very refreshing.

small museum with wealth of information. Fun to tour the old courthouse where Elvis Presley filmed a scene from the movie, "Follow that Dream." Very Interesting

This building is registered as a National Landmark because of the rich history that can be found inside and out. The building constructed in 1912 is unique in that the 4 corners face due East-West-North- South. The outside architecture is a blend of several different architectural styles. Inside on the second floor is an old court room from the early 1900's where as mentioned in other reviews Elvis filmed Follow That Dream. Every year they have an Elvis Festival to commemorate Elvis's visit. On the first floor there are several rooms full of historical info on the area as well as a Seminole Indian exhibit as they had settled in the area. There are many quaint restaurants in the area that one can walk to. Also a short walk is Cooter Pond with a boardwalk.

The courthouse hold lots of nifty little hidden treasures. Lots of history store in that building. Loved looking at the original clock and learning about local history.

Have stopped by a number of tieswhilevisiting craft shows inte square. It shos a good view of what Citrus County was like in a gentler time. The volunteers have taken out much of the modernization to restore it to earlier condition. They had to use stills from when the Elvis Presley movie was filmed in order to restore it to its original condition. It is very well worth taking the time to visit this gem.

Stopped in here on a cold, drizzly day, and was pleasantly surprised. Contains some cool stuff of a local historical slant.

Inverness is a great destination for biking or hiking in the nearby local parks. However, the historical downtown has some treasures like this small museum. It won't take long, but the it has some permanent & other traveling exhibits. The volunteer docents are usually happy to help. Right outside this museum are some nice locally-sourced restaurants that will make the afternoon go by nicely.

The beautifully restored 1912 "Historic Courthouse" is the center of a very vibrant downtown. It is one of my favorite sites in and around Inverness, FL. The displays in the Courthouse are informative and very well done. Musical shows are held periodically in the second floor courtroom, where you can walk across the same wood floor in the courtroom where Elvis stood in the movie "Follow That Dream." The Historic Courthouse office contains many historical documents and people can do research there. The women's restroom is the only one I have ever seen that includes a real (but now non-working) fireplace on the wall - an artifact from earlier days. The gift shop contains a variety of merchandise such as shirts, mugs, pins, and books."Courthouse Square" is very busy several times a year for outdoor concerts, festivals movies and other activities. Be sure to viisit to the Historic Courthouse if you come to Inverness!

My wife and I stopped here one evening. It was about an hour drive from Crystal River where we were staying. This history museum housed in the 1911 Courthouse displays county archives from 1885 to the present emphasizing pioneer settlers, photographs, diaries, and manuscripts. This is interesting to see if you are in this area. It is not worth the hour drive to get here.

They change the theme regularly plus once a year they feature Elvis Pressley (in April). They have an excellent gift shop that is run by mainly volunteers. The rest room facilities are excellent. Lots of good books about Florida and the area.

There's a lot of history packed in this charming little town, which is unusual for Florida. The court is not only the heart of Inverness, it is the county center.

Retired courthouse in citrus County, is now a site for many concerts. Cute little venue for about 100 people. Also has a small museum showing Citrus County from way back. Also, you'll get to see some memorabilia from when Elvis film "Follow that Dream" at the courthouse. The centerpiece of downtown Inverness.

They always have something a little different to display along with staples that are fun and interesting to visit. Love the old courthouse and the fact that Elvis filmed a movie there once just adds something....
