We were bicycling the Tunnel Hill State Trail in Southern Illinois and just happened upon this gem. The woman (Linda) who created, organized, and runs it believes we should not forget our history and she keeps it alive with all kinds of goodies from the town, her family's hardware store and the railroad that now is the bike trail. It looks like a lot of remodeled train depots on the outside but the inside is filled with fascinating memorabilia. A must for anybody even remotely interested in railroads. We stayed up in Harrisburg, Ill. but this was one of the high points of our trip, along with the Country Music Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee. If you're camping I recommend the Ferne Clyffe State Park. This little corner of the world is VERY surprising and very interesting. Please give Linda a donation if you can afford it!
