fort de chartres state historic site

This is my favorite historical site! I've loved this spot since I was a child. Due to no longer living nearby, I don't always get to go to the Rendezvous. But one absolute must is the kettle popcorn at the Rendezvous. The site used to sell hot beef sandwiches but I don't think they do that anymore. I really wanted to have my wedding here, but logistically wasn't possible. It's a very pretty and quiet spot. I love this place.

This old fort is near the Mississippi River. It has been partially restored and gives one the feel of what it must have been like to be stationed there as a soldier. Quite interesting to visit.
