I enjoy always learning about the places I visit. Naperville is no exception. It is a great experience to learn about the inception and history of the city in a fun and easy to learn way. I highly reccomend it.

Those who relish long walks would love this place. Wish the whole of US had preserved history in similar fashion. Come here and you'll forget the plastic modernity of Chicago downtown. The venue needs more visibility esp. in tourist literature such that those visiting Chicago don't miss out on this heavenly experience. The only other place which evoked a similar soothing feel was Dorking near London. The Garden walk is much publicized but a walk through the neighborhood is highly recommended. As you pass by the architectural home wonders nestled in the green house of swaying trees, the world becomes a oxygen-rich playground for you.

Buying an old home once scared me. Then I was lucky enough to work with a person who had roots in Naperville and a passion for preserving its Historic Homes. As I became more knowledgeable, I realized that a well maintained home could be a real treasure in the Historic District. Where else can you find Victorian, Prairie, Bungalow, Farmhouse, Cape Cod, Craftsman Styles a few feet apart. Unlike the modern subdivision where everything looks planned and similar, the homes are full of character. And residents of the area enjoy a walk to town, special events on foot, a train right into Chicago plus Amtrak routes. On a pretty day stroll down the streets of the historic district. It can be the beginning of a hundred years of architectural amazement. The historic district includes everything up to North, as far as Chicago Avenue south, stretches west to Julian and east to Center. See you as you explore the streets of Naperville.

The historic section of Naperville is lovely and very easy to access. You can walk from the train station to the downtown area and see plenty of gorgeous old architecture.

I live in Naperville, so drive thru this area quiet a bit. The streets surrounding North Central College are lined with mature trees and most of the houses are large and elegant. I can imagine it being a summer getaway for the people of Chicago. Of course, when I first moved here the downtown area was more small town, but has grown, as has North Central College with their new concert hall. It is still a lovely area to visit, either on foot or by car.

Strictly speaking, the Historic District is an area to the north east of the downtown area, and marked by road signs. You can easily walk from the Historic District to the downtown area or the station or the DuPage children's museum as the Historic District borders them all. The Historic District includes much of North Central College and many older houses belonging to notable founders of Naperville, which are marked with historic plaque. It's a very pleasant area for an afternoon walk around the quiet streets, as every house is unique and the streets are all lined with mature trees. Some of the sidewalks are "cobbled" with bricks rather than concrete paving stones. Naperville could make much more of this area if they provided an interesting leaflet marking the main attractions and their connection to Naperville's history, plus possibly permitting entry from time to time to the buildings on North Central College (plus private houses?)

Downtown Naperville offers many unique shops, which is especially fun during the Holidays. When the weather is nice, take a walk along the Riverwalk or stop, sit, and enjoy the scenery. Some old historic areas (especially Naper Settlement) offer interest to history buffs, and those who like to shop will never be at a loss.

A lot of shops and restaurants within a couple of blocks. Also a great catholic church, Sts. Peter & Paul, historic.

Very easy to spend all day here. Shopping is out of this world and many, many restaurants to choose from.
