When I visited December 17th Tighthead was celebrating their 3rd Anniversary. The place was packed with no place to sit so I did the next best thing and purchased a few bottles to enjoy at home. Be sure to considering checking out their Craft Beer Festival in June. 2015 will be the 4th Annual.

Stopped in to check out the local beers. Very good selection that should cover most people's palletes. They had a pale ale cask conditioned which was very good. I also tried the doppelbock and the barley wine which was barrel aged. All 3 were very good and worth trying again. Nice clean place with great service. I was impressed and would stop back next time through.

nice selection of handcrafted beers. kind of a younger persons hangout. music or a d.j. several nights a week, and the nice part is you can order a pizza delivered by emils, one of the best pizza places around!

Friend and I came here for some good microbrews and were NOT disappointed. Their Go-Go Wit, Hat Trick Tripel, and Irie IPA were all good. The Tube (English pale ale) and Left-Handed Monkey Wrench (pilsner) were great. The Old Kaya Dog (barleywine) was nothing short of amazing. Huge. Tasty. Everything a barleywine should be.As for the service, they were great. My friend and I got hungry halfway through our tasting event and they bartender was gracious enough to hold the tab open while we ate somewhere else before coming back to finish our brew tour.Great beer and the staff was very accommodating. I highly recommend Tighthead to anyone thirsty for a tasty beer or two.

Truly our go to place for great beer. The people there are awesome and once you talk to them they'll remember you every time you come to Tighthead. My husband and I have been to Mickey Finns in Libertyville and wasn't impressed with their brew. But Tighthead has some great brews. Mmmm beer. During the spring and summer, they have a little patio area that is great for smokers, people with dogs, or just for a great time.

Great but hard to find location by the Mundelein train station! Very good beers and nice tasting options. The tours are fun.

The setting is out of a Pacific Northwest movie to me. Clean, laid back, but more importantly, serving great micro brews. I tried all available, and found the types that I drink outrageously good, and other styles I don't drink, good as well. A nice place to hang with friends and family.

Mundelein is not a big town so how can it be so darn difficult to find one building... a pretty big building at that?!? Located righ under the town's water tower, just in front of the Metra station. How hard can it be? Really pretty hard. So, once you finally get here, expectations are high! Maybe too high. The microbrewery experience is more about the ambience for me than it is for the beer, though we like good beer as well. The atmosphere here is not grand .. it is (as my husband says) a "...low budget operation..." which feels more industrial than it does cozy. The beers, many of which are distributed to local restaurants, are OK. None that we have ever had were great, just OK. As others have said, there is nothing else here but beer .. no food or other drinks. If you are a "local", you haveta see this place at least once. If you are passing through Mundelein, it's probably not worth the trouble to find with so many other choices in surrounding areas.

I finally found this place and glad I did. Enjoyed every minute of the visit. Great beer and love the bar area you can see the beer making going on. Must visit.

The thing that I like about Tighthead is that they brew quite a few different styles of beer. There is something for everyone, so a group with differing tastes can find something they all like. Besides the usual offerings, they also experiment with other styles and seasonal specials. There´s always something new to try whenever we go in there....my personal favorite is Chilly Water!I like that the place is family friendly. My son loves when we stop in, he especially likes sitting outside when the weather is nice. My only wish is that the patio was bigger to accommodate more people.Always fun to stop in, have a quick pint, take the tour and get a growler to go. Highly recommended!

This is a new brewery in Mundelein. The owner, Bruce, is very nice. They give tours of the brew room, but the best thing about Tighthead is the beer. It is by far my favorite brewery in the area. They don't serve food so come with a full belly. The brewery is located right next to the train station so it is the perfect place to stop after the trip home from the city.

The tap room is relaxing and clean--it makes you forget that the parking lot for the Metra train station is a few hundred feet away. The beers I have sampled so far range from alright to really good, though I haven't found a great beer yet. I look forward to seeing them grow and hone their flavors a little more. It is worth a stop for the micro brew fan if you're in the area.

New to the area and thrilled to discover Tighthead Brewing Co. Sampled the Sweet Potato, Belgian, Doppel and Blonde---all were excellent. Was greeted by owner at front door. Nice size tap room with great microbrew atmosphere; almost like not being in Illinois. More like west coast vibe. If you've ever homebrewed this place is a dream come true. Will be back for growler purchase soon.

This place is worth finding. The beers are really, really good. Tap room is a nice place. Relatively small, but always fun. Take some beer to go as well.

My son and I have visited several local breweries and love IPA's and stronger beers. Liked the bar area of Tighthead, but was not impressed by their beer offerings. Will not be returning.
