I paricularly enjoyed the murals portraying the town, the Mother Road exhibit with Steinbeck quotes, the story of how the Route 66 came into existence.

On a recent drive between Phoenix and Vegas we stopped in Kingman to see this museum. We were surprised to learn the low cost of admission includes three attractions. The staff working the desk were super friendly and nice. The Route 66 museum was very informative and we learned a lot. We were sorry we didn't get to visit the other two attractions but maybe next time. The only thing we didn't enjoy was the one gift shop on the second floor where we the two clerks tried the 'hard sell' on a Grand Canyon West Rim tour and silver jewelry. The other gift shops were different with very nice staff.

The Historic Route 66 Museum is housed in the same building as the Kingman Visitor Center. There is also a small store in this building with lots of Route 66 items for sale. Adults pay $4.00/person or $3.00/person for Seniors. This ticket also gets you into two other Kingman attractions including another large museum with history of the area and a Historic House tour. There is a lot to see regarding the Route 66 history which is a lot of fun. There is also a thought provoking area regarding the Depression Era (1930's) movement of hopeless Dust Bowl farmers to California where they hoped for better days. The movie/book "The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbach" also traced their story. This is a worthwhile stop and a very good deal if you have time to visit the other attractions. Plan on an hour or two here.

Great. Friendly and helpful staff, cute displays. Easy one hour walk around and the tickets get you into a couple other places. All in a fun time.

DO NOT drive by Kingman, AZ, and miss this one! It is worth the stop. Lots of history about both the early settlers who passed through and those who stayed. They have a wonderful re-creation of the trucks and families who made their way west during the dust bowl. We learned so much! Thy also have a great display of local art and the Route 66 car culture.

A small entry fee (waived the morning I visited, but given as a donation anyway) got me access to excellent displays, a thoughtful layout and some little known facts about Americas most well known road. Well worth a visit.

Inside an old restored power plant building are well done exhibits telling the story of Route 66. Kingman Visitor Center and a fun gift shop is also housed inside. One poignant museum exhibit has Steinbeck's Grapes of Wrath 'mother road' chapter on the walls with a series of 1930's era photos showing weary families traveling on 66 with all their worldly possessions on top of old trucks and cars. The photos are captivating; spend time in this exhibit to gaze at the facial expressions of those traveling with babies and pets, in difficult conditions, to find new lives and opportunities. One fun exhibit includes an old Studebaker with a side window-mounted 'air cooler' - something we'd not seen before. A fascinating electric car exhibit proves Detroit had electric car dreams long before Toyota or Tesla. Nominal admission fee of $4.00 for adults includes free admission to the Mojave Museum of History and Arts in Kingman.

A token entry fee which traced the origins of the route West a la Steinbeck, complete with a Studebaker of the era. Included a unique exhibit of electric vehicles from the 1800's, so, Tesla is not so original.

Even the building is history! Used to be the power plant for the area -- now turned museum. Nice gift shop, and a LOT of well done displays, including a electric car museum, which will blow your mind as far as finding out electric cars have been around a lot longer than you think!

This place is amazing!!!!! They have so many historic and interesting photographs and displays and the staff is very informative and friendly and explain everything in great detail especially the photos from the past and the migration information. All in all it was a wonderful, entertaining experience and I will do it again next time family visits this area.

I'd recommend this to everyone. A lot of interesting things to look at. The display about the migration in the depression was very moving. It makes your heart break for those poor people! Even the little children looked beaten down.A good lesson for all. No unemployment, no Social Security no Medicaid, no food stamps -- there just were no jobs! There are people advocating a return to the times when there was no help for those who had lost their jobs. Anyone who thinks that is a good idea, should see this exhibit!

Enjoyed the exhibits and took us back in time when it was the only way to travel. If you like The Mother Road, this is worth a stop.

Had a great time seeing the museum about Route 66. The exhibit on the dust bowl migraters was cool, also the other old car stuff was fitting.

We had to do some business in Kingman and decided to look around and was surprised by the museum. It took us back through time with the pictures and clips of all the classic cars. A must see if you like history and it was right off HWY 40.

This stop was not on our original plans but we saw it from the road as we were transitioning from one highway to another and decided not to miss the chance. This was a wonderful surprise. Restrooms, gift shop, limited food but great historical perspective. The location makes it an easy on/easy off for highway travelers so there is no excuse if you are in the area. The layout is open and inviting with a lot of wonderful information and an opportunity to relive an exciting era in American growth. I will make another stop here on another roadtrip, now that I know it is around.
