Currently the museum is in transition to larger and better facilities which will make your visit just that much more special and informative. My family found the museum displayed pieces, supporting information and personal service outstanding. What we saw and learned was applicable for the Flagstaff area, Arizona and the US military overall.

The Fort Tuthill Military Museum is packed (wall-to-wall) with history. I took my family last year and spent nearly three hours looking, reading and talking with docents that were extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Recently, the museum moved, but remains within the confines of the fairgrounds. Last weekend, we attended an outdoor event held at the museums new location and got to see all kinds of interesting military hardware. This is the best Military Museum in the Southwest. Don't do what Jill G did - give them a call or go to the website for the latest news and hours of operation. That will keep you from driving around in circles. By the way, the Website http://www.forttuthill.org is as nice as the museum itself.

After driving around in circles - very poor signage - we found a park service agent that informed us the museum was closed. The website looked interesting, but as far aw we could tell there is not much happening for this museum. We won't go back.

This is for the military person in your life. It is very interesting and all relavent to the area, whether you live here or not. Educational and I believe there is a nominal fee and/or donations accepted to help keep it going - it is a small building but packed with items.

Intimate military museum filled with history. A must see in Flagstaff. Many unique and interesting items to look at. Small enough to see everything.

Even though I am not connected to the army, I am really interested in the history of it, and when I was in Flagstaff for a weekend, I had no doubts that I should stop-by at Fort Tuthill Military Museum. Yes, I will not hide that the place is small and prior entering I had some doubts on how it is going to be, yet they have managed to create the exhibits so that you get everything you have expected! The pictures, the attributes, the stories – everything was so interesting and exciting to me! Definitely advice to go there if ever happen to visit the sightseeing highlights of Flagstaff!

Great things come in small packages. Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. She is a school teacher and I am a retired Marine currently working for the Army at Ft Sill, Ok. In our 27 years of active service we've toured a lot of great military museums. I have to say the amount of history displayed per squre foot at Ft Tuthill has to be the highest in the country. This museum packs a powerful punch of Arizona military history from mid 1800's through the present. The Soldiers of the 158th Infantry are proudly depicted as are our nation's contribution to world security and peace. Some directions posted are not quite right: The museum is located within Ft Tuthill County Park take exit 337 off I-17 to Park entrance and follow the signs. You will be glad you did.

Just recently the high ropes course opened up and for its size it looked pretty disappointing from the ground but once you get going you realize that you cant see the entire coarse from the ground. I had a great time traversing the coarse. I plan on going back. Just make sure if you go to take plenty of water!

I went to a small museum today and was very impressed with the display that showed the history of the 1st Arizona Infantry/158th Infantry. The displays included many artifacts from 1865 through present day and included some items I have never seen before and I am a museum nut, so I have seen everything from small local museums to the Smithsonian in Washington, DC. So if you are in the Flagstaff area and want to see a real jewel, you've got to see this.

We live here in Flag. and I kept viewing the FTMM openings in the newspaper. One of the last lazy Saturdays of the summer and it was time to get the boys out of the house. Super great diorama, lots of knives and guns, wonderfully annotated photos and artifacts from the 1850's to the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. I think the visit will put a new spin on the County Fair this year. Go....take the kids and have fun with it. Very enthusiastic docents who were respectful of the boys, interjected when we had questions and otherwise, let us visit at our own pace.

I went to his museum after hearing about it from some friends. There is a ton of reading, which is good as I can use the material in my middle school history classroom. By the same token, if the reading is too much, this museum is FULL of artifacts that serve as beautiful primary sources. They even have some German MG-42s!Needless to say, the size and space of this museum is a travesty (where is the funding!?!) but considering the space the knowledgeable, professional, and friendly staff has to work with, this museum compared to larger museums backed by corporate dollars is a REAL diamond among many SYNTHETICS.

I've been visiting flagstaff since I was 18 months old. I've recently discovered the Ft. Tuthill military museum and am so glad I did. It is one of flagstaffs best kept secrets. If you're visiting or live in flagstaff, I recommend this gem.

Excellent display of the history of Ft Tuthill and militaria in general. Although the museum is small, it is top notch. My young history buff daughter enjoyed it immensely, as did the rest of the family

A excellent value for military families! Check their website for seasonal dates and weather updates. It is not uncommon for extreme temperature changes in the evenings -- even during the Arizona summers!

Had a blast with my family of six girls. They all loved it and talk about it until this day. Every time we are in the area they ask to go back. We have made it one of our get out of Phoenix spots!!!
