You can see for miles from the top. Take a short walk out to Finger Rock for a beautiful view of the N. Rim Grand Canyon

We rode up with our family while we were camping in the Kaibab Forest. We took our side by side and the trip up took about an hour, so pack a cooler with drinks and snacks. We saw horseback riders and hikers enjoying the mountain on our way up. Unfortunately in the summer it is monsoon season, and we were drenched! But it was a fun adventure.

We drove the road to the lookout in a Honda Fit and made it but I would not go any higher than the towers. The turn off from Hwy 73 is easy to miss as it's just a dirt road into the forest. The dirt road is seven miles each way with many turns and is quite a climb. I don't think my little car was very happy with the climb. The views on the way up are great but the view at the top was hindered by the tree growth. We saw several deer on the way back down. If it's rained or is about to rain, I would suggest that you go a different day.

Our trail took us up the mountain from the east side. A single track trail that crosses a car/4 wheel road up the mountain at mile 2, then again 4 more times before the top. At least a 4.5 miler one way. Beautiful forest with a variety of trees. Great temps.

Bill Willams Mountain starts in Williams and heads out 4th St. which is Hwy. 73. The road is dirt and starts to climb lodestly as you start for the atennas on top. Most cars other than low clearance one with make it but better for higher clearance ones. (We have no problem in out Honda CR-V.) Takes "about" 1 hour to make it to the top. The view is INCREDIBLE! DO NOT start this drive if it has just rained or especially if it might rain. It is absolutely worth the time for the view. Walk around the base of the atennas on several sides to appreciate the views from all sides. Take a camera..you'll want to share your trip with friends. No cost. There is a bathroom (pit toilet) at the top but do yourself a favor a take care of business before you start up. There is nothing but the view....no food.."no nothin'."
