There are many viewpoints, but this ranked #2 with us. Many people miss it because it is not on the bus routes. But it is worth the time to drive to it.

Yes, this is another view of the canyon but it is one of the last cracks as you go south and is surrounded by the desert. Flat all around. You could just fall in. Beautiful.

If you are not hiking down into the canyon, this is a great view of the canyon and the Colorado River accessible by car/bike/shuttle bus!

The locals told us this was THE place to go for sunset. When you watch a sunset, the tendency is to watch TOWARD the sun. NOT here. At this point look at where the sun is throwing light against the canyon walls. It moves very quickly but provides some amazing photographic moments. I shot many images of the canyon walks with the setting sun and it was magnificent. Definitely a great spot. Going in winter is cold and standing closer to the rim is windy so if you want to stay and see the views, be prepared and dress well.

Regrettably arrived with little time before sunset at 4pm. Wonderful landscape. We managed to walk down on the right side for really nice shots..Fortunately was prepared for the wind & cold. Torchlights were handy.

The entire Grand Canyon is gorgeous and this Point provides insanely breathtaking views. The expanse is indescribable unless you are there. When you are at this view and you see when appears to be grasslands by the river...those are trees! That is how far you can see! You think trees are grass. This is just amazing and this is definitely a Point to stop.

Most scenic view of Grand Canyon of all the outlooks. The only place to see the Colorado River in three separate places. Well worth the drive and many scenic outlooks along the way.

We felt this was the best stop on the South Rim. Excellent views. IF you can only visit a few stops, include this one and Watchtower.

Oh how I wished I'd checked out Lipan Point ahead of time during my stay at Grand Canyon. Lipan Point is off the beaten track and not accessible via shuttle bus and as a result, there aren't many crowds, if any, here.Visitors can park in the little parking lot and hike a short distance to the lookout point. If you're surefooted and not afraid of heights, you can, very carefully at your own risk, walk out onto the precipice and soak it all in.Lipan Point would make an amazing spot for sunrise/sunset photographers as you get a full 180 degree panoramic view of the amazing canyon below. There is a public washroom at this location.Only general vehicle park pass is required to visit this location.

Lipon Point will give you amazing views of the canyon. Linger here and soak in the scenery. Sunset and sunrise cannot be beat when seen from various points along the South Rim of GCNP.

One of the many million dollar views of the Grand Canyon. Try to catch as many of them as you can! And don't run down you camera battery at the first sight - there are many many more along the south rim!

We drove here form Yavapai Lodge to watch the sun come up. You can easily spend a few hours watching the light change every few minutes, which completely changes the atmosphere of the whole canyon. After that, it's a short drive to admire the Lookout Tower, and after you've mooched around that their cafe will have opened and you can reward yourself with their excellent breakfasts (altho the coffee really is dreadful).

Panoramic views in every direction and down to river with large S-meanders and delta, rapids, and tilted rocks. All layers visible here.

Affords a different view of the canyon area than you get from the el tovar hotel area. Lipan is at the Far East end of the canyon area and very worth taking the time to visit.
