grand canyon ranch - day tours

On our way to the Grand Canyon Skywalk we were looking for a restaurant and my GPS found this place. When we arrived it was kind of hard to find the actual restaurant since it just looked like a deserted theme type park. Finally deciding to just wander on we found it and were very surprised by the quaintness of the place. We were greeted with very friendly people and ordered our lunch/dinner we both had BBQ chicken, beans, toast, canned peaches and potato wedges and it was very good although a bit expensive with two beers it came to $65.00. During our dinner there was a cowboy singing and telling jokes to us and the only other couple that happened to be dining there as well, After eating we were asked if we would like to ride up to see the bison we said sure then we were told it was $49.00 per person. Uh Ok were on vacation..... So we went the ride was on a covered wagon with two great horses pulling it. When we got to the summit to view the bison the view as the sun set was breathtaking and the guides were friendly and knowledgeable, we were served Champaign and told the history of the ranch and the bison. Our driver of the wagon offered to take pictures with our camera of us and did a good job helping us capture our moments. We had a great time and were glad we went although the prices were quite high.

Helicopter ride over the canyon good but only about 10 mins should have been 15 -20 mins told when booked

Without a doubt the best attraction in Las Vegas. We booked this as part of an 8 day trip to Las Vegas and what a great time we had. The Cowboys and girls cannot do enough for you. Cabins are great with all the old cowboy stuff in them including a metal bath. We did the horse back sunset tour to see the Bison and sunset the outstanding views over the mountains will stay with us for a very long time. The horses are extremely well trained and suitable for all be it children or adults some in our party had never been on a horse before and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. John and his gun range is also a must do great instruction extremely safe and really good fun.Meals are great plenty of food and well cooked. Casey the singing cowboy with all his stories was one of the highlights, he kept us going round then campfire all night into the early morning. All in all one of the best trips we have ever been on. This is a must do we will be back again on our next visit.

We had three wonderful days at the ranch with a fantastic group of people. Cowboy Dave was great with his serenading and campfire sing-songs. reba and co in the kitchen served up good wholesome cowboy food and the cabin was wonderful. Hubby had a fine old time at the shooting range with John, whilst I had three great rides to see the buffalo and Joshua Tree forest.

We were on a day trip from las Vegas to the ranch but wished we could have stayed longer! We were greeted with cactus,horses, tee-pees in fact everything you can think of from a fully operational ranch. We flew over the Grand Canyon from the ranch with Heli USA and it was awe inspiring - truly magnificent! Back at the ranch we had a tasty lunch of ribs and entertained by cowboy songs. We then went on a horseback ride through the ranch (cart rides were also available) which was a dream come true - total cowboy experience complete with tales out of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid! The cowboys were so friendly, enthusiastic and wanted everyone to enjoy themselves which they did. The little cabins and tee-pees looked amazing for overnight stays and i believe evenings around the campfire are not to be missed, definitely stay over next time!

Spent the weekend with my family, son 18, and some friends. GCR is a great place. Don't expect a luxury hotel, but you can expect very friendly staff, a lot of fun and good food. Cowboy Casy, the entertainment, is the real deal, giving the Ranch an authentic Cowboy atmosphere. We opted for first night in the cabin (spartan but fun) and the second night horseback ride to a tent camp. That was spectacular! Rose was our guide and she was the epitome of the Cowgirl. The horses were gentle and the sunset took our breath away. Topped that off with a campfire grilled steak, wow! I also tried the shooting range with a true American, Military Veteran instructor. GCR is not five stars for luxury but it is five stars for experience. Takes about an hour and a half, easy drive, from Las Vegas.

We brought a day tour from the street in Vegas and were picked up at 6.30am by a third party. Our Driver, Jim, was prompt and friendly. After stopping off at the office and paying we drove to the Hoover dam for a stop. They only take 10 passengers but only 5 of us on the tour that day. After Hoover dam we drove to the Grand Canyon Ranch, stopping again at a service station for the toilet and refreshments. The drive out was scenic and Great to pass homes and Joshua Trees. At the Ranch we discovered you could stay there in small cabin or Tee pee if you wanted. We payed for a Horse drawn wagon ride where all proceeds went towards buying ore Buffalo to boost herd numbers. The wagon too us to the Helicopter's for a 15min ride out and over the Grand Canyon. I though the helicopter looked old but it got us there and back in 1 piece. I couldn't understand the pilots commentary too well thru the head phones. Worth paying the extra for the wagon ride, kids would love it. You also get a horse roping display. Back to the ranch for Lunch which was ribs with Hickory sauce, corn on the cob, beans. The tour is not cheap but you do get a lot for your money and the man that runs the place, sings and plays guitar as you eat lunch. He is funny and charming. It would of been fun to stay the night in a tee pee and have a sing along at night around the fire. You can drive past this place and stop for lunch, helicopter etc you don't need to be part of a tour. Kids would love it and worth it.

we had a good time, we got picked up at 6.30am we were advised we would get breakfast but didn't. the tour guide Lynda had some really great stories and had a lot of knowledge she was really good. we were disappointed with the lady we booked with at CVS on the strip, she said we would get breakfast and we didn't, she said we would be back by 2 and we got back after 4pm, having booked another tour at 4.30 we almost missed it. in the rush we left our camera on the tour bus and after a week of calling the ranch and begging them, they finally posted it.the ranch was fun, the food was good and the helicopter ride is well worth it.

I don't know if this heading is referred to the day tour from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon ranch with horseback and helicopter ride. But that's what we took from the strip and it was fantastic!! Josh the tour guide was great, very informative and fun!! The whole day was a blast!! I would recommend this to anyone and would do it again in a heartbeat!! Probably one of the best tours we done off the strip!

We were greeted by one of the friendliest Cowboys in AZ, Casey Adams, who manages this working ranch and plays a mean six string guitar. Not only can you have a great meal but he will serenade you throughout you supper. Casey is the perfect host and a bountiful supply of songs upon request. He had us singing around the campfire to songs ranging from Beatles to George Jones. Joe another cowboy also gave the guitar a pick for a while and both these guys really made everyone feel right at home. Good advice to forgo the Sky walk and opt for a helicopter ride from the ranch. Wish we could have stayed longer but this was the highlight of the week. Accommodations were comfortable and fit right in to the ranch theme. Try it you will love it.

No phones / internet / TV - did this as part of a multi-location and cruise package, with the helicopter ride thrown is as well. 2 hours from Vegas by bus - however a lucky few came out by 'chopper' as the bus was full.Nothing on the ranch with regards to amenities - no pool / hot tub etc. just 'trips' that cost you if you want to do them (horse riding / chuck wagon riding).Whilst the 'ranch' advertises itself as a 'working ranch' - you see no cows / working horses (apart from those for hire) and when we wandered around we were asked to go back to the huts and stay away from the 'working areas'The nightly camp songs etc. were very good - but take a jumper as it gets quite chilly on a night time in Autumn - and you can come away smelling of smoke - especially if you are downwind of the fire.Casey (and his band of wandering minstrels) try very hard to keep the guests amused - and his knowledge of the song lyrics is very good - across a whole style of music titles.It can feel a bit contrived at times - with quite a 'patronising style' being adopted by the 'cowboys' - watching some of these practising their skills (lariat) etc - makes me wonder who is teaching who?There is a firing range who sub out an area on the ranch - this got high reviews from those who used it.The ranch owner (Brit) visited whilst we were there - and he is still licking his wounds over his recent (winning) run in with the native Indians and their attempts to put in a private road to access the SkyWalk which is about 9 miles away.It is a shame that the 2 x parties cannot get together on this - as it should / could be mutually beneficial and a great place to go and watch the sun set / rise. You can go to the Sky Walk - but it is $40 to get onto the 'Reservation' $35 to step onto the Sky Walk and $35 to have a photo taken (cameras not allowed!!)The cabins are very comfortable - but I did not fancy using a tepee - very basic at best, securing the cabins & tepee could be a problem and that should be considered as there are no safes / security lights and the whole area is in pitch darkness when the sun goes down. That said, WE personally did NOT have any security problems - but it should be borne in mind.........The included Canyon flight was very good (our 2nd time) but a bit short in length, the running commentary gives the present owner 'glowing tributes' over his ownership and running of the ranch - which seems fair enough.It is to be remembered that if the bus has luggage on board then it is not allowed to do the Hoover Dam stay.The organisational side of the attraction does leave a bit to be desired - with people trying to do too much with too little / make the ranch into something that it is not.Casey is a star attraction - a plus for any employer - and I am sure he affects many of the reviews.Would I stay here again?......doubtful....I enjoyed it.......but would probably try somewhere new with more activities / facilities on site - I don't want a theme park - but neither do I want a morgue!

We drove over from Las Vegas to take the horseback ride to the overnight camp out and the trip was well worth it. Riding the horse was fun and the trip out was just the right length for a couple that doesn't usually ride horses. The camp was excellent with a nice campfire and good food and drink. The tents were great for a camp out. I can't anything to say that is negative, we had a great time and would definitely good back another time.

Fabulous experience - put it on your "places to visit" list. We had a wonderful time, no tv, no internet, no phone - wonderful. Stayed 3 nights and wished we could stay longer. Had cowboy food, mixed with the cowboys singing songs round the camp fire. Casey Adams, was a wonderful host. Helicopter ride of the Grand Canyon was awesome. Learnt how to lasso, did gold panning, saw lots of their animals on their massive acreage. Go for a wonderful experience of a lifetime!

We really enjoyed this experience as it gave us the feel of how a working ranch feels. This ranch sits in the canyon in the middle of the desert so don't go if you are looking for a Disneyesque experience. The singing cowboy, Casey Adams, entertained us while others took a horseback ride. As we rode in the covered wagon from the helicopter to the ranch house, I couldn't help thinking about the thousands of pioneers who crossed the desert in the early nineteenth century in similar wagons. You can also rent a cabin and stay overnight to sing around the campfire under the stars. This is a rustic experience for the adventurous.

Had an amazing day with this tour.An educational drive to the ranch, having a quick stop at Hoover Dam which is amazing to see.Entertained with music and songs while we waited to be taken to the heli pad.I cant really remember the guy's name who took us up I think Jeff Davis, (i'm not sure) was an amazing guide anyway. New exactly what to tell us and answered any questions we had, very funny too. Loved the way he played space odyssey when approaching the CanyonLunch was delicious, and the horse ride around was awesome. A little worried that there was lightening and that it might spook the horses, but they were all wonderful. All the staff where great, friendly people. Might do the overnight campout next time.
