We came upon this site while visiting national parks in the area. It is on an active military base, that we did need to use our retired ID cards to access. After passing through the newer community part of the base we came to the original fort with its beautifully maintained parade grounds, housing, barracks, and operations buildings and Museum. The museum was filled with photos, stories and the history of our military that often went untold. Like the Tuskegee Airmen this is an important part of our nations past.

This was such a gem of a find. It is so wonderfully put together and laid out. History in school should be such fun and enlightening.
